The teams had chosen different formations for the match. Home team El Pimiento Mecanico went for 5-3-2 while Grilled Birds has decided to play a 2-5-3 lineup. Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for Pimiento on this day, taking advantage of their divine (+1) level with that tactic. It was an obvious ambition of Grilled to use their divine (+5) ability at attacking on the flanks. Down the middle came
Moey Xin Seng, making a fantastic play that nearly had Grilled take the lead after 4 minutes, but
Zsolt Feszler preserved the tie. Attacking on the wings was the choice for Grilled, and they were successfully passing the ball from the middle to the wings to attack. The home crowd was not impressed by the fancy moves of Grilled's
悠太 (Yuta) 中北 (Nakakita) after 7 minutes. He converted a pass from the left for a goal, resulting in the visitors taking the 0 - 1 lead. Players in Grilled heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their central attacks to the wings instead. 11 minutes into the game, Grilled worked the left side industriously creating several opportunities to add to their lead, but just couldn't apply the finishing touch. Grilled's
Chan Ze Han made it through the home team's defence on the right hand side 27 minutes into the match. After rounding the keeper, he only had to place the ball in the unguarded goal when a defender slid in and cleared the ball off the line. Pimiento were able to mount several counterattacks, such as the impressive one after 28 minutes, but
Yaman Sözer lofted a free kick over the crossbar.
悠太 (Yuta) 中北 (Nakakita) was, after 34 minutes, almost able to extend the visitors' lead with a well placed diving header after the ball had looped into the centre, but the home side's keeper
Zsolt Feszler made the save. After 35 minutes, a well-worked counterattack by Pimiento on the right presented an easy opportunity in front of the goal that was duly converted by
Leon Diederichsen to make it 1 - 1. 1 - 1 was the halftime score. Possession in this half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 75 percent of the time.
46 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
悠太 (Yuta) 中北 (Nakakita) gave
Bhavya Panigrahi a quick hug as he left the field.
Neeraj Muthyala would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise.
Kalki Parvathaneni entered the game for Grilled as the match clock showed 46 minutes. The home crowd breathed a collective sigh of relief when
Moey Xin Seng was unable to put the ball in the net after his show of skill down the left 81 minutes into the match. He was seen beating the pitch in frustration at missing such a good chance to give his team the lead!
Claes-Henrik Strömdahl finished off the counterattack of Pimiento from the left rather easily, making the score 2 - 1. The crowd was silenced 87 minutes into the match as the visiting team's
Islom Davlatov came in from the left, levelling the score to 2 - 2. 88 minutes into the game,
Islom Davlatov almost gave the visitors the lead, as he clipped a delicate lob over the keeper, but the ball glanced harmlessly off the crossbar. After 89 minutes, Grilled put themselves up 2 - 3, as
Bilal Mohammad Harun finished off a strike from the left with a real cannonball of a shot. As the match clock reached 89 minutes, Grilled's organisation began to suffer due to a lack of experience. After 89 minutes of game time,
Islom Davlatov had an excellent opportunity to add to the visitors' lead, clipping a volley hooked in from the right, but
Zsolt Feszler was in the right place and tipped the ball over for a corner. The referee showed Pimiento's
Matthias Reitbauer the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. It was announced by the referee that he estimated stoppage time to be around 1 minute. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! The match ends 2 - 3. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 75 percent of possession.
The most dominating Pimiento player was without a doubt
Zsolt Feszler. On the other hand,
Danny Condon's play was disheartening. Grilled's best player was
Islom Davlatov.
Bhavya Panigrahi on the other hand, had a terrible day.
