Grilled 2 - 3 Spartak

The clouds were hanging menacingly over the stadium today. They fielded: Dob - Webb, 中北 (Nakakita) - Künzler, Xin Lee, Mohammad Harun, Muthyala, Dong Chu - Ze Han, Davlatov, Xin Seng.

Starters: Tonev - Wenger, Ekenholt, Herén - Köves, Åhén, Ericsson, Apelquist, Jonsson - Nadaj, Purola.

Grilled Birds fielded a 2-5-3 lineup. For Spartak, the formation of choice was 3-5-2. Grilled used their divine (+5) ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings. Grilled players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead. Grilled's Islom Davlatov tried to break through in the middle repeatedly, but couldn't get past the visitors' defenders. Spartak had several good opportunities to take the lead, especially 19 minutes in when Tiziano Wenger came up alone against Massoud Dob who managed a block. Priding himself in being an active coach, the Spartak manager gave new instructions to his players after 35 minutes. The most controversial moment of the game was likely the penalty given after 35 minutes. Spartak's Kornél Köves kept his concentration, despite the upset crowd, and calmly put the ball past the keeper to make the score 0 - 1. After a fatal mistake from the away team's right side defence 36 minutes into the match, an alert 悠太 (Yuta) 中北 (Nakakita) bagged the ball for Grilled, levelling the score to 1 - 1. Neeraj Muthyala caused the crowd to go mental with his goal up the middle after 39 minutes. This gave Grilled the 2 - 1 lead. After 40 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by Chan Ze Han might have resulted in another goal for Grilled. However, Iliyan Tonev made a spectacular save. Halftime score was 2 - 1. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 55 percent of possession.

46 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game. 悠太 (Yuta) 中北 (Nakakita) gave Bhavya Panigrahi a quick hug as he left the field. As the 46 minute mark approached, the Grilled coach decided it was time for a substitution. Neeraj Muthyala reluctantly made way for Kalki Parvathaneni on the pitch. The Spartak coach was desperate to reverse his team's fortunes in the game, and ordered his team to change strategy. After 60 minutes, Spartak used a short break in the game to take new instructions from their coach. Teemu Purola of Spartak displayed some of his fantastic technical abilities when he brought the ball down neatly using his instep before nutmegging the bewildered Bilal Mohammad Harun and smashing an unstoppable shot past the goalkeeper to make it 2 - 2. After 72 minutes, the Spartak coach had a quick word about the tactical set-up and decided to try another approach. A mistake by the home side's central defence after 73 minutes allowed Martin Ericsson to score for Spartak. The scoreboard now read 2 - 3. A defender managed to keep the ball from crossing the goal-line after a curling shot coming in from the right from Kornél Köves after 82 minutes, and prevented Spartak from going up another goal. After 83 minutes, the Spartak coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving Martin Ericsson off the field. Göran Gustavsson took his place. Tiziano Wenger would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise. Johan Forssjö entered the game for Spartak as the match clock showed 87 minutes. The referee announced 1 minute of stoppage time, giving fans a slim hope that their team could get one more attack in before this was all over. Grilled had a magnificent opportunity after 89 minutes as Bilal Mohammad Harun hit the ball hard from the edge of the penalty box. However, the shot went wide. With 89 minutes played, Islom Davlatov of Grilled fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. The match ends 2 - 3. Possession in this half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 54 percent of the time.

The most dominating Grilled player was without a doubt Moey Xin Seng. However, Bhavya Panigrahi made a disastrous appearance. Spartak's best player was Krzysztof Nadaj. Johan Forssjö turned in a dismal performance, however.
