The teams had chosen different formations for the match. Home team Grilled Birds went for 2-5-3 while Furacão Tricolor has decided to play a 4-5-1 lineup. Grilled mostly ignored the flanks in favour of their ability to attack in the middle, taking advantage of their divine (+5) level with that tactic. Making his way up the middle 25 minutes into the match,
Islom Davlatov almost managed to squeeze a goal past the visitors' keeper, but the alert
Rötger Pecker-Zörner blocked it to keep the score level. Against a lesser team, Tricolor could very well have succeeded with their smart indirect free kick routine after 26 minutes. A trio of passes took the ball all the way past the defenders, but by then the intended recipient was already blocked off and the keeper could make a leisurely save. Grilled created a good opportunity to score 28 minutes into the match when
Cyril Künzler's hooked ball from the left created a scuffle in front of the goal, and the visitors' defenders had a hard time clearing the ball. Many thought
Bilal Mohammad Harun ought to have been awarded a penalty 30 minutes into the game, as he went down trying to dribble around
Rötger Pecker-Zörner after a determined run through the middle. Tricolor's
Patrick Steckel soared above the crowd, but couldn't knock the corner home 37 minutes into the match.
Steffen Rothermel came close to putting the visiting team one up 41 minutes into the match, following a solo raid down the middle, but
Massoud Dob managed to tip the ball to a corner. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 0. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 51 percent of possession.
46 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
悠太 (Yuta) 中北 (Nakakita) gave
Bhavya Panigrahi a quick hug as he left the field. As the 46 minute mark approached, the Grilled coach decided it was time for a substitution.
Neeraj Muthyala reluctantly made way for
Kalki Parvathaneni on the pitch. Tricolor took the lead 50 minutes into the game, making the score 0 - 1 after some elegant movement down the middle.
Patrick Steckel was the scorer. With 53 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed
Ðorđe Mrdaković of Tricolor to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 0 - 2. Grilled's
Islom Davlatov cut towards the middle after 58 minutes, receiving a brilliant pass and slicing through the visiting team's central defence, reducing the lead to 1 - 2. A drive down the left side allowed
İlker 'Maçaranduba' Acatay to get in close and score another goal for Tricolor after 73 minutes, taking the score to 1 - 3. Some fine movement on the left led to a Tricolor goal after 74 minutes, making it 1 - 4.
Steffen Rothermel was noted down as the scorer. The referee announced 2 minutes of stoppage time, giving fans a slim hope that their team could get one more attack in before this was all over. The match ends 1 - 4. Tricolor had most of the ball, with 51 percent of possession.
Moey Xin Seng performed admirably for Grilled. However,
Bhavya Panigrahi made a disastrous appearance. Tricolor's best player was
Steven 'Jobs' Appleby. On the other hand,
Patrick Aschauer's play was disheartening.
