Grilled 2 - 4 Singapore

24394 spectators had come to Olympic Lyons Park this cloudy day. Mark Marhoefer was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Cemal Saqer and Angel Hristov. The match took place on neutral ground. They fielded: Dob - Webb, Panigrahi - Muthyala, Mudaliar, Ze Han, Egan, Davlatov - Xin Seng, Mohammad Harun, Xin Lee.

The following players took the field: Wood - Poissonnet, Abastoflor, Tze Seng, 坤翊 (Kunyi) - Zirkowitsch, Felin, Nguyen, Wiatrak, Kok Aik - Dembélé.

Grilled Birds started the game in a 2-5-3 formation, whereas FC Barca Singapore lined up in a 4-5-1 formation. Grilled tried to focus their attacks down the middle, taking advantage of their divine (+3) level with that tactic. The terraces were silenced after 2 minutes when Singapore's Gregor Dembélé put the guests ahead 0 - 1, following an attack on the right. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave 莫 (Mo) 坤翊 (Kunyi) from Singapore a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 3 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! Neeraj Muthyala showed the skills that make him a real crowd pleaser as he, after 13 minutes, wove through the guests' entire central defence and put the 1 - 1 equaliser away. The visiting Krystian Wiatrak was booed thoroughly by the home crowd 19 minutes into the game, after he broke through the middle and scored, resulting in the visitors taking the lead. 1 - 2 was the score. Krystian Wiatrak was the first to reach the corner kick, but his header was blocked by the keeper. However, Singapore's Gregor Dembélé managed to get hold of the rebound and tucked the ball into the empty net. 1 - 3 The home crowd was not impressed when Krystian Wiatrak came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 26 minutes. Singapore were now up 1 - 4. Grilled's fans were urging them forward as they tried to get back into the game, and their vocal support was rewarded 29 minutes into the match as Chan Ze Han ran onto a beautiful ball played through the visitors' defence and slotted it past the keeper to reduce the deficit. 2 - 4. Halftime score was 2 - 4. Singapore had most of the ball, with 52 percent of possession.

The home crowd cheered when, after 53 minutes, Devan Nguyen's charge up the middle resulted in the keeper making one of his best saves of the day. 59 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Bernie Egan gave Kalki Parvathaneni a quick hug as he left the field. The cannonball from 35 metres by Gregor Dembélé of Singapore was an impressive sight, but didn't make it into the net. Gregor Dembélé left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 70 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead. Loy Ah Kuan was the replacement. As the 87 minute mark approached, the Singapore coach decided it was time for a substitution. Devan Nguyen reluctantly made way for Vikas Alluri on the pitch. Neeraj Muthyala would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise. Cyril Künzler entered the game for Grilled as the match clock showed 88 minutes. It was announced by the referee that he estimated stoppage time to be around 2 minutes. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! The match ends 2 - 4. Singapore claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 51 percent.

Grilled's top performer was clearly Chu Xin Lee. Islom Davlatov turned in a dismal performance, however. Leon Frederik Zirkowitsch performed admirably for Singapore. Loy Ah Kuan was a disappointment, however.
