Grilled 3 - 3 Bot

Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 39306 at The Cooking Pot today. Philipp Christoph Gassler was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Julian Gröger and Alan 'Dan' Harrington. Lineup: Dob - Webb, 中北 (Nakakita) - Künzler, Xin Seng, Mohammad Harun, Xin Lee, Davlatov - Mudaliar, Ze Han, Parvathaneni.

The following players had been chosen: Jardin - Cepeda, Chişcă, Trasferti, Kian Chee, Lopo - Puay Lai, Phang, Argentesi - Grevenbrück, Konaev.

Grilled Birds entered the field in a 2-5-3 formation. The visitors, Bot Team FC, chose to start the game with a 5-3-2 lineup. Grilled used their divine (+4) ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings. For their match strategy, Bot had decided to use their divine (+3) ability to counter-attack whenever possible. After a fine move down the middle Vikram Mudaliar nearly gave the home side a goal after 4 minutes. However the finishing shot went just wide. Bot showed their counterattack skill 5 minutes into the match by breaking through the middle, with George Chişcă scoring uncontested for 0 - 1. The visitors nearly scored again after 9 minutes, but a superb save by Massoud Dob kept Óscar Antonio Cepeda's free kick out of the net. Bot caught their opponents out with a clever counterattack down the right wing 38 minutes into the match. Nico Lopo was able to finish off the move - 0 - 2. 39 minutes into the game, Bot had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to inadequate. Grilled had a good opportunity to attack on the wing, but remembered their instructions to go for middle attacks. After 42 minutes, Islom Davlatov had a good opportunity to reduce the scoreline for Grilled with a chance created through the middle, but wasn't cool enough. The ball went miles over the bar. The referee showed Grilled's Moey Xin Seng the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Nicolas Jardin was unable to continue, following a severe injury to his left knee, 43 minutes into the match. This gave Esneider Lotta a chance to take to the field instead. The home side worked their way through the middle and almost got one back when Chan Ze Han tried to sneak the ball past the keeper. Esneider Lotta was too alert for that! Gilbert Webb did everything he could to get one back for his Grilled, but keeper Esneider Lotta denied him with a spectacular block. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 2. Possession in this half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 66 percent of the time.

The Bot players spent the break getting a rerun of the team's tactical organisation and regained a solid organisation when the game started again. 46 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game. 悠太 (Yuta) 中北 (Nakakita) gave Bhavya Panigrahi a quick hug as he left the field. Grilled supporters cheered as good work down the right got the ball to Chu Xin Lee who reduced the visitors' lead after 54 minutes to 1 - 2. With 55 minutes played, seemingly due to lack of experience, Bhavya Panigrahi needlessly tripped an opponent just outside the penalty area, but the free kick that followed didn't succeed. After 60 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving Kalki Parvathaneni off the field. Bernie Egan took his place. With a shot curled in from just outside the middle of the penalty area after 67 minutes played, Moey Xin Seng of Grilled made the score 2 - 2. 69 minutes into the game, Bot seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a inadequate level of organisation. With 75 minutes played, the home side managed to get a 3 - 2 lead as Chan Ze Han flipped the ball in after a cross from the right. Grilled's Islom Davlatov swung in a good chance from the left, but the visitors' defence were able to clear the ball. The referee decided to let play continue for an additional 3 minutes beyond the regular 90 minutes. The crowd was silenced 90 minutes into the match as the visiting team's Kong Kian Chee came in from the left, levelling the score to 3 - 3. The match ends 3 - 3. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 67 percent.

Grilled's best player was Chan Ze Han. Islom Davlatov on the other hand, had a terrible day. Nicholas Phang performed admirably for Bot. Esneider Lotta was a disappointment, however.
