Grilled 2 - 4 Payoh
It had rained all day, but 44000 hardy fans still made it out to

The teams had chosen different formations for the match. Home team Grilled Birds went for 2-5-3 while Mia San Toa Payoh has decided to play a 5-4-1 lineup. Grilled used their divine (+4) ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings. Payoh clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could, taking advantage of their divine (+3) level with that tactic. Some great play up the middle by Grilled led to a chance for
Chan Ze Han to score after 8 minutes, but the shot hit the crossbar. Payoh showed their counterattack skill 9 minutes into the match by breaking through the middle, with
Tan Tong Leong scoring uncontested for 0 - 1. Central attacks were the recipe of the day for Grilled, as they moved the ball from the wings to the middle with startling regularity. Some fine passing in the middle of the pitch, carving open the away defence, should have led to a goal for Grilled, but
Kalki Parvathaneni's shot went over the bar. Grilled's
Vikram Mudaliar was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 16 minutes. Payoh hit back on the counter attack 22 minutes into the game with a free kick. Initially it seemed wasted, hit wide towards the wing. But there was an idea to it - the ball was then crossed towards
Maciej Cukierski, who was waiting for it in the box. That's 0 - 2! Don't forget to thank the set pieces coach for that idea! Grilled had a good opportunity to attack on the wing, but remembered their instructions to go for middle attacks. After 32 minutes
Vikram Mudaliar made a speedy advance and dropped the ball to
Florus Romijn who shuffled it past the keeper. The score was now 1 - 2. Given a free kick close to the byline, Grilled tried a move that loyal fans may recognise from training. A pass to the side pulled the defence out of position which let
Bilal Mohammad Harun slip through on goal. He didn't have to break his stride, and slipped the ball past the keeper to make it 2 - 2, 39 minutes into the game. 40 minutes in, Payoh's
Eleazar Morgado received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. Halftime score was 2 - 2. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 70 percent of possession.
Grilled were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up centrally. After a fine move down the middle
Bilal Mohammad Harun nearly gave the home side a goal after 63 minutes. However the finishing shot went just wide. The counterattacks of Payoh were deadly and 64 minutes into the game,
Pablo Cesar Taranto received a nice pass from the right flank, making it 2 - 3. As the 75 minute mark approached, the Grilled coach decided it was time for a substitution.
悠太 (Yuta) 中北 (Nakakita) reluctantly made way for
Bhavya Panigrahi on the pitch.
馬 (Ma) 修賢 (Xiuxian) was first to reach a ball launched long through the center from Payoh's defence 79 minutes into the game. He managed to keep his cool and beat the goalkeeper to make the score 2 - 4.
Kalki Parvathaneni would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise.
Bernie Egan entered the game for Grilled as the match clock showed 80 minutes. After 89 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving
Bilal Mohammad Harun off the field.
Neeraj Muthyala took his place. As the match nears its end, the referee has deemed it appropriate to add 2 minutes as stoppage time. The match ends 2 - 4. Possession in this half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 69 percent of the time.
Grilled's best player was
Chan Ze Han.
Bhavya Panigrahi on the other hand, had a terrible day.
Tan Tong Leong performed admirably for Payoh.
Joonas Riihiniemi turned in a dismal performance, however.
