It was to be a contest between two different football philosophies, since the home team started the game with a 2-5-3 formation while the visitors instead opted for 3-5-2. Grilled used their divine (+5) ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings.
Maciej Cierpioł had been given instructions to man mark
Vikram Mudaliar. And he carried his orders out perfectly, following close, reducing the options for his mark. 11 minutes into the match, S.C.M. nearly took the lead, as
Vratislav Špačinský broke through on the right.
Massoud Dob made the save, however. After 14 minutes,
Bilal Mohammad Harun came in from the right, feinted, then sped past the off-balance defender to make the score 1 - 0, giving Grilled the lead. The visitors kept the pressure on to tie the game when, after 15 minutes,
Kil-Sung Kim broke through the centre and found himself alone with the keeper.
Massoud Dob made a great block, though. The visitors refused to give in and, after 27 minutes,
Jochen Gleichen evened things up as he finished off a perfect pass from the right. 1 - 1 Grilled's
Moey Xin Seng got himself booked for a foul.
Bilal Mohammad Harun gave Grilled the lead as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then slotted the ball into the bottom corner, giving the keeper no chance. 2 - 1 It was 2 - 1 at the break. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 51 percent of possession.
It was obvious that team Grilled had instructions to attack in the middle instead of on the wings. After 47 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by
Moey Xin Seng might have resulted in another goal for Grilled. However,
Jarosław Rozpędek made a spectacular save. S.C.M. were close to putting the equaliser away after 54 minutes as the opposing defence lost control of the ball to
Orxan Rzayev in a scuffle towards the left of the goal, but in the end the ball was cleared over the dead ball line.
Moey Xin Seng knew he was in trouble after hacking down an opponent. Despite his pleading with the referee, the Grilled player was shown a second yellow card and dismissed from the game. The Grilled captaincy was handed to
悠太 (Yuta) 中北 (Nakakita).
Bilal Mohammad Harun neatly controlled the ball after a short corner, and knocked it on to
悠太 (Yuta) 中北 (Nakakita) who had the whole net open before him, but only managed to hit the post. As the 70 minute mark approached, the Grilled coach decided it was time for a substitution.
Chu Xin Lee reluctantly made way for
Kalki Parvathaneni on the pitch. 70 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Grilled substitution.
Bhavya Panigrahi came on for
悠太 (Yuta) 中北 (Nakakita).
Neeraj Muthyala became the new Grilled captain. The referee showed Grilled's
Neeraj Muthyala the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
Vikram Mudaliar really should have scored when he was chosen by fate to confront a wide open goal following a great play by
Florus Romijn after a corner. After 79 minutes, speedy
Florus Romijn dashed past his marker, making plenty of room for the second wave of attack. However,
Cyril Künzler failed to score. 82 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as
Bilal Mohammad Harun broke through, making the score 3 - 1 for Grilled. At that,
Bilal Mohammad Harun was noted down for a hat trick! The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 3 minutes of added time they, nonetheless, welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact.
Bhavya Panigrahi should probably have put his team up another goal after 91 minutes after breaking through the middle, but some great goalkeeping by
Jarosław Rozpędek kept the visitors in the game. Grilled's
Chan Ze Han was shown a yellow card after 92 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
After 92 minutes, Grilled's lack of experience resulted in the team's loss of their edge at the end of the game. The match ends 3 - 1. Possession in this half belonged to S.C.M., who controlled the ball 53 percent of the time.
Grilled's best player was
Chan Ze Han. On the other hand,
Bhavya Panigrahi's play was disheartening.
Kil-Sung Kim performed admirably for S.C.M..
Maciej Cierpioł was a disappointment, however.
