Grilled 5 - 1 K A O

The crowd turning up at the stadium today were greeted with some nasty showers of rain. For strong, physical players the heavy rain was easy to overcome, it was even an advantage given their style of play. Others, such as the quick or technical ones, made bleaker appearances. They fielded: Dob - Webb, 中北 (Nakakita) - Künzler, Xin Seng, Mohammad Harun, Muthyala, Romijn - Mudaliar, Ze Han, Parvathaneni.

The following players took the field: Brocks - Tete, Borroni, Bombardi - Aqil, Rahim, Torres Guerra, Malice - Chisari, Braagaard.

It was to be a contest between two different football philosophies, since the home team started the game with a 2-5-3 formation while the visitors instead opted for 3-4-2. 19 minutes into the game, K A O had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to weak. Making his way up the middle 20 minutes into the match, Bilal Mohammad Harun almost managed to squeeze a goal past the visitors' keeper, but the alert Lance Brocks blocked it to keep the score level. Grilled's Kalki Parvathaneni was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 25 minutes. Grilled had a good opportunity to take the lead as Kalki Parvathaneni came up the left side, but he struck the ball weakly and it went straight into the arms of Lance Brocks. The home side put themselves ahead 1 - 0 after 39 minutes courtesy of a breakthrough from Chan Ze Han, who scored with a stunning volley following a cross from the right wing. With 41 minutes played, Kalki Parvathaneni could have brought this one home for Grilled as he charged up on the left, but his hooked ball went just a bit too high. Grilled increased the lead as Chan Ze Han struck to make the score 2 - 0 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper. 2 - 0 was the score after the first half. Grilled had most of the ball, with 65 percent of possession.

Despite his frustration resulting in the smashing of a few teacups, the coach of K A O was able to get his message across, and raised K A O's organisation to solid. Coming in on the left, André Braagaard did everything right to get a goal for K A O after 49 minutes, but his finishing shot was stabbed clear by the keeper. A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of Grilled to 3 - 0 as Moey Xin Seng finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle. After 60 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving Kalki Parvathaneni off the field. Chu Xin Lee took his place. After 62 minutes, Grilled's Cyril Künzler swiftly ran past Angelo Bombardi and nutmegged the keeper! 4 - 0. The crowd roared its approval when Massoud Dob somehow managed to block a shot which seemed to be a certain goal by K A O's André Braagaard 63 minutes into the game, following a good move through the middle. Chan Ze Han should probably have put his team up another goal after 66 minutes after breaking through the middle, but some great goalkeeping by Lance Brocks kept the visitors in the game. Grilled put themselves up 5 - 0 when Chan Ze Han broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake. By then Chan Ze Han had scored three goals - a hat trick! 70 minutes into the game, K A O seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a inadequate level of organisation. The visitors replied 71 minutes into the game, reducing the home side's lead to 5 - 1, as Efe Tete dashed up the middle, easily lobbing the ball over the home team's keeper. Neeraj Muthyala would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise. Bernie Egan entered the game for Grilled as the match clock showed 80 minutes. It was announced by the referee that he estimated stoppage time to be around 2 minutes. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! Cyril Künzler had a fantastic opportunity to put Grilled up another goal 89 minutes into the match after a pass through the middle set him free, but he fired just over the crossbar. 89 minutes into the game, K A O seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to inadequate. The match ends 5 - 1. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Grilled, with 64 percent of the ball.

The most dominating Grilled player was without a doubt Chu Xin Lee. Gilbert Webb was a disappointment, however. K A O's best player was Nicola Chisari. On the other hand, Lance Brocks's play was disheartening.
