Ariquitaun 1 - 3 Grilled

The spectators at the stadium today were in for an afternoon of sunshine. It was a very hot day and some players suffered from this, especially those relying on tough physical play or a lot of fast runs. For the technical ones, on the other hand, this was ideal conditions. They fielded: Zahedi - Morillo, Cubillán, Naimushin - Siong Kim, Mulyukov, Amr, Clark, Azargoun - Hinchev, Drake.

Lineup: Dob - Webb, 中北 (Nakakita) - Künzler, Xin Seng, Mohammad Harun, Muthyala, Romijn - Mudaliar, Ze Han, Parvathaneni.

Ariquitaun F.C. entered the field in a 3-5-2 formation. The visitors, Grilled Birds, chose to start the game with a 2-5-3 lineup. Grilled mostly ignored the flanks in favour of their ability to attack in the middle, taking advantage of their divine (+4) level with that tactic. Some great play up the middle by Ariquitaun led to a chance for Ali Amr to score after 2 minutes, but the shot hit the crossbar. Many thought Hamid Azargoun ought to have been awarded a penalty 5 minutes into the game, as he went down trying to dribble around Massoud Dob after a determined run through the middle. After 27 minutes, following yet another great corner, Hamid Azargoun's flick on at the near post reached Manolo Morillo, who was just wide with his snapshot - the ball went out for a goal kick. Kalki Parvathaneni came close to putting the visiting team one up 29 minutes into the match, following a solo raid down the middle, but Mohammad Kazem Zahedi managed to tip the ball to a corner. The terraces were silenced after 31 minutes when Grilled's Gilbert Webb put the guests ahead 0 - 1, following an attack on the right. 0 - 1 was the score after the first half. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Grilled, with 52 percent of the ball.

Florus Romijn received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 64 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 2. The Grilled fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. 65 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Grilled substitution. Islom Davlatov came on for Neeraj Muthyala. Moey Xin Seng increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley away after a pass from the right. 0 - 3. Elio Cubillán would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise. Jo Løvseth entered the game for Ariquitaun as the match clock showed 70 minutes. After 75 minutes, the Ariquitaun coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving Denis Naimushin off the field. 李 (Li) 文荣 (Wenrong) took his place. With Denis Naimushin no longer on the pitch, 李 (Li) 文荣 (Wenrong) became the new set pieces taker. 80 minutes into the game, Ariquitaun wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Lee Siong Kim gave Léi Reding a quick hug as he left the field. As the 89 minute mark approached, the Grilled coach decided it was time for a substitution. Kalki Parvathaneni reluctantly made way for Prokop Mottl on the pitch. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 1 minute of added time they, nonetheless, welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact. Glyn Drake charged down the left and looked sure to score for Ariquitaun 89 minutes into the game, but his shot went just wide. Ariquitaun's Glyn Drake got the home crowd going when he finished off a left wing charge, reducing the away team's lead to 1 - 3. With the scoreboard clock showing 89 minutes, the inexperienced Grilled team fell into disarray. The match ends 1 - 3. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 51 percent.

Vasil Hinchev performed admirably for Ariquitaun. Jo Løvseth turned in a dismal performance, however. Most important Grilled player was Chan Ze Han. Gilbert Webb on the other hand, had a terrible day.
