Grilled 5 - 0 Chemistry
The crowd of 67074 turning up at
The Cooking Pot today were greeted with some nasty showers of rain.
Dário Brogueira was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Anastasie Panait and
Mqabukonyongolo Letlake. The wet pitch made it difficult for technical or quick players to stand out. For once, the players relying on physical strength gained the upper hand. Starters:

Grilled Birds started the game in a 2-5-3 formation, whereas Chemistry lined up in a 3-5-2 formation. It was almost a goal for Grilled following
Neeraj Muthyala's good header after a corner, it went just over the bar though.
Florus Romijn of Grilled was able to make an impressive rush past the sluggish
Vincenzo Ornaghi, which resulted in a goal making the score 1 - 0. After 28 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by
Moey Xin Seng might have resulted in another goal for Grilled. However,
Tommaso Petretta made a spectacular save.
Moey Xin Seng could have put Grilled up one more, but he fired into the side netting after breaking free on the left after 30 minutes. Things were going to get worse for the visitors.
Moey Xin Seng squirmed through their central defence after 32 minutes, increasing the lead to 2 - 0. Chemistry kept trying to force their way through on the right side and
Anton Veiderma got his chance after 35 minutes, but the home side's defence held their position and stopped the attack. Grilled solidified their lead at the 39 minute mark, as
Vikram Mudaliar dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 3 - 0. 3 - 0 was the score after the first half. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 61 percent.
Neeraj Muthyala wanted to play on, but the Grilled coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 46 minutes into the game by
Bilal Mohammad Harun. Cheers filled the stadium as
Chu Xin Lee broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 4 - 0 to Grilled. Given a free kick in a difficult position after 60 minutes, Grilled tried a variation that they had practised in training. The kick was sent into the area just in front of the keeper. However, the defence were on their toes and allowed no space for a finish. The coach of Grilled was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 60 minutes,
悠太 (Yuta) 中北 (Nakakita) came on for
Bhavya Panigrahi. 72 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as
Florus Romijn broke through, making the score 5 - 0 for Grilled.
Bilal Mohammad Harun should probably have put his team up another goal after 73 minutes after breaking through the middle, but some great goalkeeping by
Tommaso Petretta kept the visitors in the game.
Chu Xin Lee left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 89 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead.
Prokop Mottl was the replacement. It was announced by the referee that he estimated stoppage time to be around 2 minutes. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! The match ends 5 - 0. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 61 percent of possession.
Most important Grilled player was
Moey Xin Seng.
Prokop Mottl on the other hand, had a terrible day. Chemistry's best player was
Gerald Leung.
Vincenzo Ornaghi turned in a dismal performance, however.
