Grilled 2 - 7 Champions

iv id="matchReport"> Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and The Cooking Pot saw a crowd turnout of 59108. Rubén Pascual was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Isaias Arriola and Stig Paulsson. The derby had been the talk of Jurong all week and fans of both teams could be seen throughout the stadium. Grilled tactics involved an interesting 2-5-3 combination. They fielded: Tian Han - 福泉 (Fuquan) , Filippone - Ping Shun, Meyer, 长春 (Changchun), Won, Aik Jia - bin Mohd Kassim, 勇航 (Yonghang) , Ying Lee.

Champions had chosen a strategic 4-5-1 formation. Lineup: Ortega - van Wijk, Vaidhyanathan, Bejan, Aydınel - Göransson, Pang, 世昉 (Shifang), Ah De, Tse Jian - Zuberbühler.

Grilled could have put themselves ahead after 12 minutes but W. Ping Shun missed a volley shot on a ball coming in from the right. Champions's 冯. 世昉 (Shifang) managed to lose the defenders as he advanced down the right wing and scored, putting the visitors ahead after 14 minutes. 0 - 1. The referee showed Grilled's L. Aik Jia the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Grilled put pressure on the visitors' central defence 21 minutes into the game, but C. Ying Lee couldn't find an opening. The visitors' N. Zuberbühler took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 36 minutes into the match. 0 - 2 for Champions. The players of Champions now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle. A misunderstanding between the visitors' keeper E. Ortega and his left defence could have resulted in a goal for Grilled, but C. Ying Lee's finish was way too lame. A drive down the left side allowed A. Pang to get in close and score another goal for Champions after 42 minutes, taking the score to 0 - 3. Champions increased their lead after 43 minutes when 冯. 世昉 (Shifang) broke through on the right, upping the score to 0 - 4, much to the home crowd's dismay. It was 0 - 4 at the break. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 51 percent of possession.

Grilled didn't give in and with 50 minutes played L. Aik Jia was able to make the score 1 - 4 after an attack on the right. The home crowd were delighted when 凌. 福泉 (Fuquan) scored with a header after an attack from the right, making the score 2 - 4. But did he use his hand? That'll be one for the pundits to talk about after the game, that's for sure! A well placed corner kick from A. Vaidhyanathan was followed by E. Aydınel's hard but accurate header. The well executed routine resulted in a goal for Champions, the score now 2 - 5. With 79 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed N. Zuberbühler of Champions to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 2 - 6. The home crowd was not impressed when A. Vaidhyanathan came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 80 minutes. Champions were now up 2 - 7. Grilled's C. Ying Lee managed a superb strike from the left after 83 minutes that would have left goalkeeper E. Ortega without a chance, had it not hit the post. After 88 minutes, Grilled switched G. Filippone with R. bin Ahmad, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch. Champions claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 51 percent.

Most important Grilled player was 田. 勇航 (Yonghang) . On the other hand, W. Tian Han's play was disheartening. The most dominating Champions player was without a doubt N. Zuberbühler. D. Bejan on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 2 - 7.
