Ropelearner 2 - 6 Grilled

iv id="matchReport"> The 74431 spectators at Impossibility Camp were in for an afternoon of sunshine. Jairo Pérez was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Bert Petry and Nicholas Harrison. The derby had been the talk of Jurong all week and fans of both teams could be seen throughout the stadium. Ropelearner started off with a 4-5-1 lineup. The following players had been chosen: Kopola - Mitusov, Tadel, Scheerlinck, Scuteri - Hernández Luna, Keong Hui, Tse, Leong Long, Tammer - Coucke.

Grilled had chosen a strategic 2-5-3 formation. They fielded: Tian Han - Meyer, Filippone - Ping Shun, Shun An, 长春 (Changchun), Jing Wei, Aik Jia - bin Mohd Kassim, 勇航 (Yonghang) , Ying Lee.

11 minutes into the match, the speedy L. Aik Jia easily outpaced A. Mitusov, chipped the keeper and made the score 0 - 1. Having been awarded a free kick in an awkward position after 27 minutes, Ropelearner did not go for a shot but instead fired the ball hard into the 6 yard box. After a brief tussle with his marker, L. Scheerlinck was able to power the ball past the keeper to make the score 1 - 1. Grilled took the lead 31 minutes into the game, making the score 1 - 2 after some elegant movement down the middle. 田. 勇航 (Yonghang) was the scorer. C. Meyer received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 38 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 1 - 3. The Grilled fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. Confident in their lead, Grilled's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. After 44 minutes Ropelearner's N. Scuteri limped slightly after a late challenge, but he was able to continue. Grilled's C. Meyer got himself booked for a foul. 1 - 3 was the score after the first half. Grilled had most of the ball, with 53 percent of possession.

With 46 minutes played, the Ropelearner coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around. K. Refvik came on, W. Tadel had to leave the fray. The Ropelearner players listened closely to their manager, as he gave new tactical instructions for the team. Unhappy with the result so far in the game, the Ropelearner manager used a brief break in play after 48 minutes to give the players new directives. W. Ping Shun increased Grilled's lead to 1 - 4 with a superb free kick strike that flew in just under the far top corner. Grilled increased their lead after 82 minutes when W. Shun An broke through on the right, upping the score to 1 - 5, much to the home crowd's dismay. The home team's supporters got excited again when R. Tammer broke through the visitors' central defence and caught their keeper off guard, making it 2 - 5. The fierce heat made it important to save breath, and after a few swift runs F. Hernández Luna found it hard to get back into position. The visitors' 田. 勇航 (Yonghang) took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 88 minutes into the match. 2 - 6 for Grilled. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 56 percent.

J. Coucke performed admirably for Ropelearner. K. Refvik turned in a dismal performance, however. Most important Grilled player was M. bin Mohd Kassim. C. Meyer was a disappointment, however. The match ends 2 - 6.
