With the crowd on their feet chanting wildly, some great moves down the right hand side after 47 minutes gave Grilled a wonderful opportunity to level the score, and W. Shun An stepped up to the challenge. 1 - 1 54 minutes were showing on the scoreboard when Grilled's Z. Jing Wei received his second yellow card and was sent off. Many thought C. Ying Lee ought to have been awarded a penalty 55 minutes into the game, as he went down trying to dribble around G. Desbos after a determined run through the middle. Grilled had a chance to take the lead after W. Shun An's dazzling drive up the left, but the opportunity fizzled out as his shot went just over the bar after 60 minutes. 61 minutes into the match, Privateers's M. Zoffmann demonstrated his famed speed as he raced past his marker and passed the ball to E. Fernandes who chipped it in for 1 - 2. The crowd chanted their encouragement as Grilled's 田. 勇航 (Yonghang) came in from the right after 71 minutes and put the ball in the net to level the score at 2 - 2. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 53 percent of possession.

With the scores being level after 90 minutes, the match went into extra time. After 98 minutes, Privateers began to show their lack of experience and they threatened to wilt under the heavy pressure from their opposition. They were singing the praises of 朱. 长春 (Changchun) 103 minutes into the match after his speculative chip from the middle of the penalty box found its way over the visitors' keeper to make the score 3 - 2 to Grilled. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave C. Ying Lee from Grilled a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 104 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! Things were going to get worse for the visitors. M. bin Mohd Kassim squirmed through their central defence after 109 minutes, increasing the lead to 4 - 2. 凌. 福泉 (Fuquan) wanted to play on, but the Grilled coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 115 minutes into the game by Q. Madaini. M. bin Mohd Kassim left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 119 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead. C. bin Sabtu was the replacement.
