Another Wings It

Seventeen year-old Robbie Wing, younger brother of current In Kölle ze Hus defensive midfielder Oliver Wing, moved on a free transfer to Westral FC today. Wing never quite found his best position, which has however given him a taste of playing anywhere, with his latest stint as a forward. He leaves the academy with four goals from seventeen appearances.

The elder Wing congratulated his sibling from Jordan, where he has made a number of appearances in the Jordanian Third Division, most recently as a substitute in a goalless draw against Hullygully Lions. "Tell my kid brother to work hard!"

Robbie was not rated all that highly on footballing skill alone by scouts, but he had two strong points which probably helped. First was his considerable pace, which has bailed him out of poor decisions more than once. Second was his magnetic personality, which some say has gotten him more passes than he otherwise would have.

Wing will be hoping not to follow the footsteps of academy senior Aziman Khairil, who also went to Westral, however - Khairil never quite managed to establish himself, and washed out after a while, before then moving overseas for his new career.
