Dark skies made the crowd of 73630 at Woodside Park a little nervous, but the rain held off. Sílvio Neto was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Ştefan Copoeru and Luis Loeschbor. Benfleet started off with a 5-3-2 lineup. Lineup: Niculescu - Shun Dong, Louzada, Andrea, Hofstätter, Martin - Osborn, Toti, Brumsee - Kian Feng, Bühler.

A 2-5-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Grilled. They fielded: Tian Han - bin Jantan, Madaini - Ping Shun, 长春 (Changchun), Shun An, Jing Wei, Aik Jia - bin Mohd Kassim, Ying Lee, 勇航 (Yonghang).

Benfleet tried to focus their attacks down the middle. Grilled's A. bin Jantan could have put the guests one up after 16 minutes after chasing a through ball from the right, but A. Niculescu was as fast as a snake, grabbing the ball from under his nose. C. Ying Lee's speed was almost enough to give Grilled a goal after 19 minutes, but his nice pass to M. bin Mohd Kassim was not taken care of properly. There was concern in the stands when, at the 35 minute mark, Grilled's W. Ping Shun hit the ground hard, but he refused the attention of the trainer and rejoined his teammates on the pitch. H. Shun Dong's lack of experience almost gave Grilled a goal after 36 minutes, but the shot went right into the keeper's arms. 40 minutes into the game, M. bin Mohd Kassim almost gave the visitors the lead, as he clipped a delicate lob over the keeper, but the ball glanced harmlessly off the crossbar. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, A. Andrea got himself booked. The manager of Benfleet was not happy. After 42 minutes, Grilled's W. Shun An made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 0 - 1. 43 minutes into the game, Grilled were awarded a penalty and W. Ping Shun was able to increase the visitors' lead to 0 - 2 rolling the ball in by the right post. The players of Grilled now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle. Halftime score was 0 - 2. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 69 percent.

The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave Z. Jing Wei from Grilled a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 49 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! L. Brumsee's knee will be throbbing for days, but thankfully for Benfleet, he bravely continued in the match. A well placed corner kick from W. Ping Shun was followed by M. bin Mohd Kassim's hard but accurate header. The well executed routine resulted in a goal for Grilled, the score now 0 - 3. The bench was restless, and with 60 minutes passed Benfleet's coach gave C. Qiang Chuan the opportunity the player had been hoping for. H. Shun Dong reluctantly left the field. Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Benfleet's J. Martin was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 60 minutes. J. Msallem was given a chance to change things around. The Grilled players could smell victory in the air. C. Ying Lee wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for P. Bellamoli after 60 minutes. With 70 minutes played, the Benfleet coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around. F. Pitzek came on, C. Kian Feng had to leave the fray. When B. Osborn left the game because of a back injury after 74 minutes, Benfleet had to continue a man short due to there being no available replacements. M. bin Mohd Kassim of Grilled took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 75 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 0 - 4. A defender managed to keep the ball from crossing the goal-line after a curling shot coming in from the right from 田. 勇航 (Yonghang) after 76 minutes, and prevented Grilled from going up another goal. Grilled increased their lead after 78 minutes when 田. 勇航 (Yonghang) broke through on the right, upping the score to 0 - 5, much to the home crowd's dismay. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Grilled, with 74 percent of the ball.

D. Bühler performed admirably for Benfleet. However, L. Brumsee made a disastrous appearance. Grilled's best player was 田. 勇航 (Yonghang) . A. bin Jantan was a disappointment, however. The match ends 0 - 5.
