After 12 minutes, Grilled's 田. 勇航 (Yonghang) made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 0 - 1. The crowd chanted their encouragement as newbies's Roshadi bin Che Rusli came in from the right after 30 minutes and put the ball in the net to level the score at 1 - 1. 1 - 2 was the score with 35 minutes played, after Zhao Jing Wei cut through the central defence and chipped home a goal for Grilled. After 36 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for Mohd Safri bin Mohd Kassim who increased Grilled's lead to 1 - 3. newbies's Roshadi bin Che Rusli got the home crowd going when he finished off a left wing charge, reducing the away team's lead to 2 - 3. Roshadi bin Che Rusli's lightning pace was too much for 朱. 长春 (Changchun) who could only look on as the newbies player blasted one home. 3 - 3. This third goal completed a hattrick for Roshadi bin Che Rusli. Chow Ying Lee, who often relies on his speed, had a rotten day on the drenched grass. The teams went for the halftime break at 3 - 3. Neither team was controlling the possession at this point in the match, with the stats showing a 50:50 split.

The players of newbies now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by newbies, with 51 percent of the ball.
