Grilled 2 - 3 Honkey
ouds darkened the skies at The Cooking Pot as 3300 spectators turned up for the match.
Zenon Korycki was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Lorenzo Abegglen and
Ottó Gyulay. Grilled started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. They fielded: Noubaryan - Bakhtiar, Ross, Awyong - 力勇 (Liyong), bin Mohd Kassim, Ying Lee, 勇航 (Yonghang) , Shaahee - Bacelar, Wan Kang.
Honkey tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. Lineup: Haq - Chávarri, Pater, Sousal - Saunders, Çevik, Costea, Mäkikoski, Gleueler - Bollo, Griffin.
It was obvious that Grilled were using their pressing skill as their primary tactic. Grilled had a chance to take the lead after
Leong Wan Kang's dazzling drive up the left, but the opportunity fizzled out as his shot went just over the bar after 11 minutes. After 24 minutes, Honkey raised their score by one when
Jon Saunders's dangerous low cross was cleverly tucked in at the near post by
Hugh Griffin. 0 - 1.
Rui Alexandre Sousal came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle. He tried to lift the ball over
Hovaness Noubaryan but overcooked it and hit the bar instead. With 33 minutes gone, Grilled had a free kick in a decent position. Despite this being a great chance for a shot, they tried a cheeky move intended to bypass the defence. However,
Mohd Safri bin Mohd Kassim did not manage to connect with it cleanly and the ball went out. Grilled made it 1 - 1 as
田. 勇航 (Yonghang) got a touch to the floated corner kick and flicked the ball to
Mohd Safri bin Mohd Kassim who whipped a low drive in off the far post. It was 1 - 1 at the break. Honkey claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 52 percent.
46 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
梁. 力勇 (Liyong) gave
凌. 福泉 (Fuquan) a quick hug as he left the field. The guests took the lead 51 minutes into the match, after a right-side attack resulted in
Jon Saunders scoring to make it 1 - 2. 55 minutes into the match, Grilled's
Leong Wan Kang maneuvered his way around the opposition on the left flank, delighting the crowd with his twists and turns. The effort paid off as the ball found the back of the net, evening the score at 2 - 2. Grilled's talent at pressing frustrated the spectators as the game became a dire midfield struggle. Honkey's
Hugh Griffin managed to lose the defenders as he advanced down the right wing and scored, putting the visitors ahead after 70 minutes. 2 - 3. Grilled needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 75 minutes
Leong Wan Kang made way for
Pompeo Bellamoli. Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Grilled's
Djan Bacelar was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 80 minutes.
Gleb Dorogan was given a chance to change things around. As the captain was no longer on the pitch,
Gleb Dorogan took over the role of being the Grilled captain. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 55 percent of possession.
Most important Grilled player was
凌. 福泉 (Fuquan) .
Hovaness Noubaryan turned in a dismal performance, however.
M. Chávarri performed admirably for Honkey. On the other hand,
Jon Saunders's play was disheartening. The match ends 2 - 3.
