Grilled 4 - 1 CCP
brilliantly sunny day had enticed a crowd of 84167 to The Cooking Pot.
Patrik Ingemarsson was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Petrik Peura and
Chema Rivera. Grilled started off with a 2-5-3 lineup. Starters: Stacey - 力勇 (Liyong), Madaini - Shaahee, 尊文 (Zunwen) , Shun An, 长春 (Changchun), bin Jantan - 勇航 (Yonghang) , Ying Lee, bin Mohd Kassim.
A 2-5-3 alignment was the formation of choice for CCP. The following players took the field: Mesa - Rambli, bin Saidi - Boon Min, bin Abu Bakar, Chang De, bin Mamud, Stevens - Yau Meng, Yew Yeng, Iancu.
Today, CCP's strategy involved concentrating on the flanks for their attacks. They were singing the praises of
田 (Tian) 勇航 (Yonghang) 5 minutes into the match after his speculative chip from the middle of the penalty box found its way over the visitors' keeper to make the score 1 - 0 to Grilled. After 14 minutes,
Lai Yau Meng sprinted between the opposing defenders and squared the ball, but the keeper deflected
Silviu Iancu's shot. 20 minutes into the match the visitors levelled the score at 1 - 1 as
Quah Boon Min struck home from a rebound off the crossbar, following a shot from the right.
Mohd Safri bin Mohd Kassim caused the crowd to go mental with his goal up the middle after 25 minutes. This gave Grilled the 2 - 1 lead. After 32 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and
Chow Ying Lee gave the Grilled supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 3 - 1. The players of Grilled now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle. The visitors got a chance to pulling one back after 36 minutes, due to a defensive blunder leaving
Quah Boon Min completely unmarked. His strike was pathetic though, easy prey for the home side's keeper. 3 - 1 was the score after the first half. CCP had most of the ball, with 51 percent of possession.
With 49 minutes played,
Wong Chang De had a fantastic opportunity to reply but his shot flew harmlessly into the side-netting of the goal.
Lai Yau Meng didn't pace himself at all, and after a series of daring offensive runs he was too tired to help out in the defensive play. The crowd roared its approval when
Dexter Stacey somehow managed to block a shot which seemed to be a certain goal by CCP's
Denis Stevens 61 minutes into the game. The bench was restless, and with 65 minutes passed CCP's coach gave
Yap Loong Dong the opportunity the player had been hoping for.
Iskandar Zulkernain bin Saidi reluctantly left the field. Grilled's
Chow Ying Lee was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 76 minutes. CCP needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 80 minutes
Quah Boon Min made way for
Dariusz Musiatowicz. Things were deteriorating for the away team as Grilled scored another to make it 4 - 1 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for
Chow Ying Lee after 80 minutes. The crowd gasped as
Chow Ying Lee of Grilled was flattened by an opponent after 82 minutes and had to be carried off.
Leong Wan Kang came in off the bench. Grilled's
卢 (lu) 尊文 (Zunwen) had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 83 minutes having been played.
Seytek Djekshenkulov was the replacement. Although the whole team were struggling to impress, CCP's
Javier Mesa was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 85 minutes.
Ioan Diaconescu was given a chance to change things around.
Mohd Ali bin Abu Bakar was handed the CCP captain's armband. 86 minutes in,
Lai Yau Meng made an incredible run up the middle and nearly reduced the home side's lead, but
Dexter Stacey refused to let the ball slip by him. With 88 minutes played,
Zulharisan bin Mamud of CCP fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. Content with how the game was proceeding, the Grilled coach let
Alex Fonseca replace
梁 (Liang) 力勇 (Liyong) after 89 minutes. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Grilled, with 51 percent of the ball.
Mohd Safri bin Mohd Kassim performed admirably for Grilled.
Alex Fonseca was a disappointment, however. CCP's top performer was clearly
Zulharisan bin Mamud.
Ioan Diaconescu on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 4 - 1.
