Grilled 3 - 7 Sohaji

e weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 4075 had shown up at The Cooking Pot for the match. Ferdi Leemhuis was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Béla Kádasi and Hálfdán Guðmundsson. A 2-5-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Grilled. The following players had been chosen: Noubaryan - Bakhtiar, Awyong - Yong Yau, Gudivada, Da Teck, Adabala, Wee Li - Azhari, Boon Boon, 恒才 (Hengcai).

Sohaji decided to use a 2-5-3 set up. The following players took the field: Allione - Driesen, De Meue - Santamaria, Chilla, Nagel, Nierychlewski, Drehbrücke - Turk, Khuldi, Farisi.

Sohaji seemed to prefer attacking in the middle. Jeffrey De Meue of Sohaji was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. After 5 minutes, Sohaji's Valerio Santamaria made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 0 - 1. The away team's Etienne Driesen took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 11 minutes which increased Sohaji's lead to 0 - 2. After 14 minutes, Grilled raised their score by one when Teo Yong Yau's dangerous low cross was cleverly tucked in at the near post by Li Boon Boon. 1 - 2. Neo Da Teck pulled a real crowd pleaser as he, after 23 minutes, wove through the guests' entire central defence and put the 2 - 2 equaliser away. Given a free kick in a difficult position after 24 minutes, Sohaji tried a variation that they had practised in training. The kick was sent into the area just in front of the keeper. However, the defence were on their toes and allowed no space for a finish. 2 - 3 was the score with 29 minutes played, after Sohaji's Basil Farisi cut through the central defence and chipped home a goal. 2 - 3 was the halftime score. Sohaji enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 52 percent of possession.

A thrilling play through the middle 51 minutes into the match gave Sohaji's Chaime Chilla a chance to increase the lead, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 2 - 4. 56 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 2 - 5 as Archibald Drehbrücke finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick. At this point, it was obvious that the players of Sohaji lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. Grilled refused to be intimidated and, breaking through the middle, Krishnan Adabala managed to slip the ball home for 3 - 5. The defenders were clearly outwitted by Sohaji after 64 minutes. The disciplined free kick combination shifted the ball quickly to one side of the box, then back to the other. Jan Nierychlewski appeared on cue near the post, and steered it past the goalie. 3 - 6. 65 minutes into the game, Teo Yong Yau had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came Anthony Nolan. Sadik Khuldi increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley shot away on a pass from the right. 3 - 7. The bench was restless, and with 88 minutes passed Grilled's coach gave Qassem Madaini the opportunity the player had been hoping for. Colby Awyong reluctantly left the field. The forty-five minutes were dominated by Sohaji, with an impressive 55 percent possession of the ball.

The most dominating Grilled player was without a doubt 唐 (Tang) 恒才 (Hengcai). On the other hand, Hovaness Noubaryan's play was disheartening. Basil Farisi performed admirably for Sohaji. Archibald Drehbrücke was a disappointment, however. The match ends 3 - 7.
