Se7en were relying on their ability to counter-attack. Grilled used their ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings. After 2 minutes, Sorin Luca came in from the right, feinted, then sped past the off-balance defender to put away the 1 - 0 goal, giving Se7en the lead. Grilled players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead. Grilled levelled the score after 18 minutes to make it 1 - 1, as Chow Ying Lee struck home after a fine midfield combination through the middle, leaving him completely unmarked. Grilled's 林 (Lin) 俊桂 (Jungui) could have put the guests one up after 29 minutes after chasing a through ball from the right, but Jan Munik was as fast as a snake, grabbing the ball from under his nose. 34 minutes in, Grilled's 卢 (lu) 尊文 (Zunwen) received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. Chow Ying Lee did not have a good day today, often losing his footing on the muddy pitch. 1 - 1 was the halftime score. This half belonged to Se7en, who controlled the ball 52 percent of the time.

46 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Se7en substitution. Siegrich Graninger came on for Kajetan Karczewski. By now, the players in Grilled felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward.
