Grilled 2 - 3 CCP

526 fans braved the pouring rain at The Cooking Pot. Veikko Kukko was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Patrik Gröönhall and Alf Ege. Grilled had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. Starters: Stacey - Ross, Madaini, Tzonkov - Iten, bin Jantan, 尊文 (Zunwen) , Djekshenkulov, Fonseca - 勇航 (Yonghang) , Ying Lee.

CCP started off with a 2-5-3 lineup. They fielded: Diaconescu - Gneo, Rambli - bin Abu Bakar, Yew Yeng, Chang De, bin Mamud, Yau Meng - Wee Kiong, Sans, Noriega.

CCP tried to focus their attacks down the middle. Quirze Sans had a hard time on the water infested pitch - his trademark technique was nowhere in sight this day. After 13 minutes, CCP's Soon Yew Yeng made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 0 - 1. After 21 minutes of play, Abdul bin Jantan evened things up for Grilled with an impressive goal coming up the middle. 1 - 1. A mistake by the home side's central defence after 31 minutes allowed Quirze Sans to score the 1 - 2 goal for CCP. Halftime score was 1 - 2. CCP held the ball, with a clear 52 percent of possession.

After 46 minutes, Grilled switched Slavcho Tzonkov with Yvan Lefébure, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch. Paolo Iten's free kick after 56 minutes should have scored for Grilled, but the visitors' keeper just managed to get a hand on it. The referee showed CCP's Wong Chang De the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Mario Gneo seemed to be floating in the air as he elegantly headed in the 1 - 3 goal for CCP after a corner kick that was nicely executed by Quirze Sans. After 80 minutes, CCP were awarded a free kick. Rather than shooting straight at goal, the kicker went for an indirect variant which seemed to take the team mates a bit by surprise. Ng Wee Kiong did manage a finish, but from an awkward position, sending the ball out of bounds. The home club's supporters got back into the match when Chow Ying Lee broke through the visitors' central defence and caught their 'keeper off guard, making it 2 - 3. The CCP players could smell victory in the air. Ioan Diaconescu wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for Bernie Vollaers after 85 minutes. Content with how the game was proceeding, the CCP coach let Iskandar Zulkernain bin Saidi replace Mario Gneo after 85 minutes. CCP's Ng Wee Kiong wanted to play on, but 85 minutes into the game the decision was made to substitute him for Yap Ho Guang. CCP was now without a captain, so it was left to Yap Ho Guang to take the captain's armband. Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Grilled's Alex Fonseca was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 88 minutes. Rosendo Chinchay was given a chance to change things around. CCP enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 52 percent of possession.

Chow Ying Lee performed admirably for Grilled. Rosendo Chinchay turned in a dismal performance, however. The most dominating CCP player was without a doubt Zulharisan bin Mamud. However, Bernie Vollaers made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 2 - 3.
