Grilled 0 - 10 Zenit

was an exceptionally sunny day for the crowd of 7380 that came out to The Cooking Pot. Dennis Piets was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Marco Maradona and Ingo Gillig. A 2-5-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Grilled. They fielded: Noubaryan - Bakhtiar, Awyong - Yong Yau, Gudivada, Boon Boon, Adabala, Wee Li - Azhari, Da Teck, 恒才 (Hengcai).

Zenit started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. Starters: Krahn - Gündüzhan, Daskalov, Martínez - Clement, Tirylis, Eszes, Romanisio, Balmanoukyan - van Hoek, Soddu.

It was an obvious ambition of Zenit to use their ability at attacking on the flanks. Ettore Soddu's technique was perfect on this sunny day and led to some amazing plays that fooled the defence. Zenit took the lead after 3 minutes with 0 - 1. Vurnon van Hoek placed the ball out of reach for the home side's keeper after a fine move, coming in from the left. A drive on the left side allowed Zenit's Erkin Gündüzhan to get in close and score a goal after 18 minutes, leading to 0 - 2. The game had been on for 28 minutes when Stanislav Daskalov broke through on the right, upping the score for Zenit to 0 - 3, much to the home crowd's dismay. A thrilling play through the middle 36 minutes into the match gave Zenit's Kristóf Eszes a chance to increase the lead, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 4. 0 - 4 was the score after the first half. The forty-five minutes were dominated by Zenit, with an impressive 81 percent possession of the ball.

Grilled needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 70 minutes 唐 (Tang) 恒才 (Hengcai) made way for Rauf Khairul Akmal. The away team's Erkin Gündüzhan took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 77 minutes which increased Zenit's lead to 0 - 5. After this, you could see that the players of Zenit were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals. After 82 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for Vurnon van Hoek who increased Zenit's lead to 0 - 6. The home crowd was not impressed when Viliusis Tirylis came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 83 minutes. Zenit were now up 0 - 7. The fierce heat made it important to save breath, and after a few swift runs Vurnon van Hoek found it hard to get back into position. Zenit increased the lead to 0 - 8 as Ovagem Balmanoukyan scored from the penalty spot, putting the ball in near the top left corner. With 88 minutes played, the Grilled coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around. Walter Ross came on, Hilal Bakhtiar">Hilal Bakhtiar had to leave the fray. As the captain was no longer on the pitch, Hovaness Noubaryan took over the role of being the Grilled captain. Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Grilled's Colby Awyong was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 88 minutes. Vukota Crkvenjakov was given a chance to change things around. 89 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 0 - 9 as Vurnon van Hoek finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick. By then Vurnon van Hoek was a three time scorer - a hat trick! Some fine manoeuvring on the left led to a Zenit goal after 89 minutes, making it 0 - 10. Ovagem Balmanoukyan was noted down as the scorer. Zenit held the ball, with a clear 81 percent of possession.

Wardi Azhari performed admirably for Grilled. However, Hovaness Noubaryan made a disastrous appearance. Zenit's best player was Ettore Soddu. Kristóf Eszes on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 0 - 10.
