CCP 4 - 1 Grilled
715 fans braved the pouring rain at See Mee Lan Park.
Dimitri Dumoulin was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Coos Kouwenberg and
Anton Veremey. CCP tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. The following players took the field: Vollaers - Rambli, bin Saidi, Loong Dong - Aik Leng, Chang De, bin Abu Bakar, Yew Yeng, Boon Min - Sans, Wee Kiong.
Grilled started off with a 2-5-3 lineup. Starters: Stacey - Fonseca, Lefébure - Iten, 尊文 (Zunwen) , bin Jantan, 长春 (Changchun), Djekshenkulov - bin Mohd Kassim, 勇航 (Yonghang) , Ying Lee.
It was an obvious ambition of CCP to use their ability at attacking on the flanks. Grilled tried to focus their attacks down the middle.
Soon Yew Yeng caused mayhem in his own defensive line with some mad dribbles within his own penalty zone, but Grilled's
Mohd Safri bin Mohd Kassim's shot went just wide. 29 minutes into the match and the home team took a 1 - 0 lead after breaking through on the left. Scorer for CCP was
Yap Loong Dong. Grilled had to make a substitution after 37 minutes.
Alex Fonseca limped off the field and was replaced by
Slavcho Tzonkov. A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased CCP's lead to 2 - 0 as
Ng Wee Kiong finished it off competently, firing from an acute angle.
Quirze Sans was uncomfortable with the soggy pitch as he couldn't move the ball around with his usual grace. The visitors replied 41 minutes into the game, scoring the 2 - 1 goal, as
Mohd Safri bin Mohd Kassim dashed up the middle, easily lobbing the ball over the home team's keeper. After 42 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by
Deng Aik Leng might have resulted in another goal for CCP. However,
Dexter Stacey made a spectacular save. 2 - 1 was the halftime score. The forty-five minutes were dominated by Grilled, with an impressive 51 percent possession of the ball.
As
Ng Wee Kiong was substituted 46 minutes into the game, he could take comfort in the fact that his team was in the lead.
Zulharisan bin Mamud was the replacement. As the captain was no longer on the pitch,
Mohd Ali bin Abu Bakar took over the role of being the CCP captain. CCP managed to extend their lead to 3 - 1 when
Ibrahim Rambli cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. After 57 minutes Grilled's
Seytek Djekshenkulov contracted a slight foot injury, but didn't want to leave the game.
Slavcho Tzonkov slipped and slithered in the wet grass. His usual rapid runs were nowhere to be seen today.
Mohd Ali bin Abu Bakar had a fantastic opportunity to put CCP up another goal 79 minutes into the match, but he fired just over the crossbar. With 82 minutes played, CCP put themselves up 4 - 1 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to
Zulharisan bin Mamud, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home. The coach of CCP was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 83 minutes,
何 (He) 富兴 (Fuxing) came on for
Bernie Vollaers. Grilled needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 88 minutes
Yvan Lefébure made way for
Rosendo Chinchay. CCP enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 52 percent of possession.
CCP's best player was
Wong Chang De.
何 (He) 富兴 (Fuxing) turned in a dismal performance, however.
Mohd Safri bin Mohd Kassim performed admirably for Grilled.
Rosendo Chinchay was a disappointment, however. The match ends 4 - 1.
