Gleb Dorogan earned a rousing chorus of cheers from his fans as he seemed to come out of nowhere after 25 minutes to intercept the ball and put it in the back of the net for Grilled. 1 - 0. Yvan Lefébure had a fantastic opportunity to put Grilled up another goal 29 minutes into the match, but he fired just over the crossbar. 1 - 0 was the score after the first half. This half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 57 percent of the time.

The home side's Mohd Safri bin Mohd Kassim came close to extending the lead 53 minutes into the game. His shot came in from the right hand side but Dror Sapir managed to save it with an unbelievable reaction stop. The counterattacks of Changi were deadly and 54 minutes into the game, Aizal bin Hussain got a long pass from the right flank, making it 1 - 1. After 60 minutes, the Changi coach had a quick word about the tactical set-up and decided to try another approach. With the match clock at 60 minutes, Changi modified their style of play a little bit. 70 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Grilled substitution.
