Jurong had joined up for the derby. newbies had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation. The following players took the field: Lupi - bin Ahmad, Bradley, Hijano, Hubka - 保贤 (Baoxian) , bin Durum, Ho Yi, 豪平 (Haoping) - 弘鑫 (Hongxin) , bin Che Rusli.
Grilled decided to use a 2-5-3 set up. They fielded: Dias Paes - Josefsson, Crkvenjakov - Back, Lefébure, Pujolràs, Dorogan, Han Kok - bin Mohd Kassim, Bögengang, Ying Lee.
Grilled used their ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings. After 10 minutes,
Roshadi bin Che Rusli came in from the right, feinted, then sped past the off-balance defender to put away the 1 - 0 goal, giving newbies the lead. A cross coming in on the right hand side left
Quah Han Kok alone in front of the goal after 24 minutes but his shot was woeful.
Bogdan Hubka showed why he is feared on the counterattack, breaking through in the middle and scoring for newbies after 25 minutes to make the score 2 - 0. Grilled's
Gleb Dorogan startled
Chow Ying Lee with an unexpected pass. Unfortunately, the receiver was too stunned by the play to convert the perfect setup into a goal. newbies's
Ritchie Bradley was shown a yellow card after 34 minutes for slicing down an opponent. Grilled's opponents know to be wary of
Quah Han Kok's speed, but it made little difference as he blew past the defence 38 minutes into the game. Only the keeper could stop him - and he did with a perfectly timed dive! Grilled reduced the score after 39 minutes to 2 - 1 as
Domenik Bögengang easily chipped the ball past the home side's keeper after a dazzling play from the right. newbies's
Alejandro Hijano was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 40 minutes. With 42 minutes played, newbies put themselves up 3 - 1 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to
Bogdan Hubka, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home. The home side's
蔡 (Cai) 保贤 (Baoxian) came close to extending the lead 43 minutes into the game. His shot came in from the right hand side but
Valdir Dias Paes managed to save it with an unbelievable reaction stop.
Ler Ho Yi was first to reach a ball launched long through the center from newbies's defence 44 minutes into the game. He managed to keep his cool and beat the goalkeeper to make the score 4 - 1. Confident in their lead, newbies's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. The teams went for the halftime break at 4 - 1. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 57 percent of possession.
After 46 minutes, Grilled switched
Quah Han Kok with
Kyou-Chull Kim, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch. Grilled kept trying to force their way through on the right side and
Chow Ying Lee got his chance after 50 minutes, but the home side's defence held their position and stopped the attack.
Roshadi bin Che Rusli knocked one home from a counter-attack down the right wing, making the score 5 - 1 after 51 minutes. 54 minutes into the match,
Roshadi bin Che Rusli could have extended the lead, but his very hard free kick went just over the bar. Grilled were desperate to get a goal back and pushed forward through the middle 56 minutes into the game. After a scramble in the box, the ball dropped to
Domenik Bögengang, who smashed it home to make the score 5 - 2. With 60 minutes played, the Grilled coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around.
Niculae Stanca came on,
Anders Josefsson had to leave the fray. The crowd gasped as
Roshadi bin Che Rusli of newbies was flattened by an opponent after 62 minutes and had to be carried off.
He Ruifang came in off the bench. As the captain was no longer on the pitch,
岳 (Yue) 豪平 (Haoping) took over the role of being the newbies captain.
Ritchie Bradley unleashed a swerving effort from the right that the visitors' keeper did well to tip wide. With 64 minutes showing on the scoreboard clock, Grilled showed some good morale and were able to reduce the score to 5 - 3 when
Domenik Bögengang got past the home side's central defenders right in front of the goal. At that,
Domenik Bögengang was noted down for a hat trick. A scuffle developed as players from both sides clashed following a tussle in the centre of the field 77 minutes into the match. After regaining order and consulting his linesman, the referee called Grilled's
Kyou-Chull Kim to one side and produced a red card for the player. After 78 minutes Grilled's
Valdir Dias Paes limped slightly after a late challenge, but he was able to continue. The forty-five minutes were dominated by Grilled, with an impressive 53 percent possession of the ball.
Most important newbies player was
Amirul Jufri bin Durum.
He Ruifang on the other hand, had a terrible day. Grilled's top performer was clearly
Domenik Bögengang.
Niculae Stanca turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 5 - 3.
