Wolfes 3 - 2 Grilled

ather conditions were fairly good for football, and Wolves Chamber saw a crowd turnout of 3249. Brynjar Ole Remmen was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Remo Locci and Marius Gulbrandsen. Wolfes had chosen a strategic 5-4-1 formation. They fielded: Al-Dubai - Matei, Al-Salami, Osek, Nikinmaa, Al-Sa'fani - Olafsen, Al-Sana'ani, Mihaitã, Al-Sunaidar - Giebel.

Grilled tactics involved an interesting 3-4-3 combination. The following players had been chosen: Silvera - Lik-Tsun, Mausisa, bin Yaacob - Penati, Josefsson, Han Kok, Mourão - 勇航 (Yonghang) , bin Mohamad, 修宇 (Xiuyu).

Given a free kick in a difficult position after 28 minutes, Wolfes did not go for a direct shot but instead aimed for the area just in front of the keeper. The attacking players made several runs as the ball was played and made it hard for the defenders to protect their goal. After a short tussle with the defender, Sami Al-Sana'ani could finally lay the ball to rest behind the keeper. 1 - 0, and proof that it can pay off to come prepared. Wolfes's Husein Al-Sa'fani got himself booked for a foul. 34 minutes into the match, Grilled's Ciro Penati demonstrated his famed speed as he raced past his marker and passed the ball to Safri bin Mohamad who chipped it in for 1 - 1. The referee showed Wolfes's Hatem Al-Sunaidar the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. 1 - 1 was the halftime score. Wolfes claimed to be the more dominant force in the game, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 51 percent.

After 50 minutes of play, Patrick Giebel gave the home team a 2 - 1 lead after an attack coming in from the right. Wolfes's Teemu Nikinmaa was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 72 minutes. The visitors' equaliser seemed sure to come after 74 minutes, following a one on one situation around the left hand side of the goal area, but Hatem Al-Dubai got the best of it, blocking the shot from Safri bin Mohamad. 75 minutes into the match the visitors levelled the score at 2 - 2 as Safri bin Mohamad struck home from a rebound off the crossbar, following a shot from the right. Wolfes held the ball, with a clear 52 percent of possession.

Still tied after 90 minutes, the match continued into extra time. 105 minutes into the game, Anders Josefsson almost gave the visitors the lead, as he clipped a delicate lob over the keeper, but the ball glanced harmlessly off the crossbar. Grilled had a good opportunity to score the lead goal but the home team's goalkeeper Hatem Al-Dubai saved Edvaldo Mourão's shot that was headed for the top corner from the right. Wolfes hit back on the counter attack 110 minutes into the game, but were fouled before reaching the danger area. The following free kick seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But there was an idea to it - the misdirected ball was turned into a cross ball towards Patrick Giebel, who was waiting for it in the box. That's 3 - 2! Don't forget to thank the coach back home for that idea! This put an end to extra time, making Wolfes the winners.

Ovidiu Mihaitã performed admirably for Wolfes. Hatem Al-Dubai on the other hand, had a terrible day. Grilled's top performer was clearly Safri bin Mohamad. On the other hand, Han Lik-Tsun's play was disheartening. The match ends 3 - 2.
