Grilled 4 - 1 seluraralc
e crowd of 46643 turning up at The Cooking Pot today were greeted with some nasty showers of rain.
Walter Bontempi was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Félix Patrón and
Jérome Mailhot. Grilled tactics involved an interesting 3-4-3 combination. Lineup: Dias Paes - Crkvenjakov, Behr, Mausisa - Josefsson, Dorogan, Lefébure, Back - bin Mohd Kassim, Bögengang, Ying Lee.
A 2-5-3 alignment was the formation of choice for seluraralc. The following players took the field: Puay Ming - Abonxo, Brandão - Puelles, Guillon, Wan Rong, Pistner, Mabon - Arafat, Karas, Minicucci.
Grilled used their ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings. The guests almost went up by a goal after 6 minutes when
Luis Abonxo came through and shot from the right. The ball bounced harmlessly off the post, though. After 31 minutes, a penalty kick by
Bruno Brandão could have resulted in the lead for the visitors, but the keeper made the save.
Sng Wan Rong had a hard time on the water infested pitch - his trademark technique was nowhere in sight this day. Grilled took the lead after 36 minutes, as a result of
Ronny Behr's awkward, but ultimately successful, shot from the right. 1 - 0. 41 minutes into the match, Grilled's
Erik Back demonstrated his famed speed as he raced past his marker and passed the ball to
Chow Ying Lee who chipped it in for 2 - 0. At this point in the game, defending their lead became the main priority for Grilled. With 43 minutes played,
Mohd Safri bin Mohd Kassim could have brought this one home for Grilled as he charged up on the left, but his hooked ball went just a bit too high.
Kwok Kong Hui was called on to replace seluraralc's
Luis Abonxo after 44 minutes following a nasty collision. Halftime score was 2 - 0. Grilled claimed to be the more dominant force in the game, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 52 percent.
Content with how the game was proceeding, the Grilled coach let
Kyou-Chull Kim replace
Anders Josefsson after 46 minutes.
Chow Ying Lee, who often relies on his speed, had a rotten day on the drenched grass. Grilled's
Erik Back wanted to play on, but 60 minutes into the game the decision was made to substitute him for
Quah Han Kok. As the game started to slip away for seluraralc, the manager decided to change the tactical approach. The visitors' right side was dangerous today;
Lorenzo Minicucci made the home team's keeper look foolish as he easily reduced the lead to make it 2 - 1 69 minutes into the match. Cheers filled the stadium as
Mohd Safri bin Mohd Kassim broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the 3 - 1 goal for Grilled. The coach of Grilled was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 76 minutes,
范 (Fan) 修宇 (Xiuyu) came on for
Chow Ying Lee. Grilled had a good opportunity to attack on the wing, but remembered their instructions to go for middle attacks. Grilled solidified their lead at the 83 minute mark, as
范 (Fan) 修宇 (Xiuyu) manoeuvered the ball through the opposing central defence and finished for 4 - 1.
Bruno Brandão had a lethal looking free kick that grazed the post after 84 minutes. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 55 percent of possession.
Grilled's top performer was clearly
Domenik Bögengang. However,
范 (Fan) 修宇 (Xiuyu) made a disastrous appearance. Most important seluraralc player was
Stéphane Mabon.
Kwok Kong Hui was a disappointment, however. The match ends 4 - 1.
