Lads 2 - 1 Grilled
100 spectators had come to Wee Li'l Arena this cloudy day.
ZhangCai Yin-Nam was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Jacobus Jonat-Schmid and
Anders Tullerberg. Lads tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. The following players had been chosen: Andersson - Kopecki, Åkerstedt, Nemes - Candia, Castelain, Caixola, Spiessen, Hock Hock - Eike, Gerasimou.
Grilled decided to use a 4-3-3 set up. The following players took the field: Dias Paes - Crkvenjakov, Olsson, Behr, Mausisa - Josefsson, Dorogan, Lefébure - 勇航 (Yonghang) , Cunha Simões, bin Mohamad.
Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for Grilled on this day. Grilled's defence sent a ball soaring up the middle on a beautiful counterattack with 16 minutes gone, but
Ronny Behr's finish was met by the reaching hands of the keeper. Many in the crowd felt the referee was being too lenient when he only showed Grilled's
Björn Olsson a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 17 minutes into the game. Lads's
Daniel Castelain startled
Tew Hock Hock with an unexpected pass. Unfortunately, the receiver was too stunned by the play to convert the perfect setup into a goal.
Chrystian Kopecki of Lads was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. Lads made a bid to take the lead as a ball coming in on the right hand side left
Mario Candia completely alone with keeper
Valdir Dias Paes, who made a spectacular block.
Ângelo Cunha Simões suddenly found himself completely free on the right wing, when a counterattack by Grilled caught their opponents by surprise. Only a great save by the opposing keeper prevented him from scoring. Lads's
Roger Åkerstedt left the field after 34 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was
Maxime Rouan. Lads took the lead after 35 minutes, as a result of
Diamantis Gerasimou's awkward, but ultimately successful, shot from the right. 1 - 0. 1 - 0 was the halftime score. Lads held the ball, with a clear 66 percent of possession.
The bench was restless, and in the 46th minute Grilled's coach gave
Erik Back the opportunity the player had been hoping for.
Anders Josefsson reluctantly left the field. With 46 minutes played, the Grilled coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around.
Domenik Bögengang came on,
Ângelo Cunha Simões had to leave the fray. Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Grilled's
Björn Olsson was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 55 minutes.
Quah Han Kok was given a chance to change things around. Lads put themselves up 2 - 0 when
Diamantis Gerasimou broke through on the right, leaving the entire defensive box behind him. With 78 minutes showing on the scoreboard clock, Grilled showed some good morale and were able to reduce the score to 2 - 1 when
Roberto Mausisa got past the home side's central defenders right in front of the goal.
Chrystian Kopecki of Lads got sent off for kicking the ball after the whistle, a completely uncalled for move, earning him his second yellow card of the game.
Diamantis Gerasimou should probably have put his team up another goal after 81 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by
Valdir Dias Paes kept the visitors in the game. A great save by keeper
Valdir Dias Paes after 82 minutes kept the visitors in the game after
Diamantis Gerasimou struck from the left with a real cannonball. Lads claimed to be the more dominant force in the game, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 59 percent.
Lads's best player was
Marko Spiessen.
Maxime Rouan was a disappointment, however.
Domenik Bögengang performed admirably for Grilled.
田 (Tian) 勇航 (Yonghang) on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 2 - 1.
