Elephants 0 - 8 Grilled
e crowd of 12000 turning up at Dead Fish Tower today were greeted with some nasty showers of rain.
Guntademaro Serrano was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Mirosław Miszczak and
Ludovic Vergne. A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Elephants. Starters: Puay Choon - Da Soon, bin Abd Hamid, 安洲 (Anzhou) , Yi - 憧民 (Chongmin) , Puay Dong, 敬威 (Jingwei), bin Shahrum - Keng Feng, 轶项 (Yixiang) .
Grilled decided to use a 3-4-3 set up. They fielded: Dias Paes - Crkvenjakov, Behr, Mausisa - Penati, Kim, Dorogan, Back - bin Mohd Kassim, Bögengang, bin Mohamad.
The visitors grabbed the lead after
Domenik Bögengang's free kick succeeded, resulting in a score of 0 - 1. A thrilling play through the middle 13 minutes into the match gave Grilled's
Safri bin Mohamad a chance to increase the lead, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 2. The referee signalled a penalty 21 minutes into the game following an offence just inside of the box.
Domenik Bögengang knocked home the 0 - 3 goal just outside the reach of the goalkeeper. Confident in their lead, Grilled decided to play a more defensive game at this point. 22 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 0 - 4 as
Ronny Behr finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick. After 23 minutes, Grilled sent a free kick in high over the penalty box. In what looked like a well-rehearsed move, the ball was headed backwards and reached
Ronny Behr, who had plenty of space to place a well aimed shot and score the 0 - 5 goal. Halftime score was 0 - 5. Grilled held the ball, with a clear 80 percent of possession.
Grilled's
Safri bin Mohamad wanted to play on, but 46 minutes into the game the decision was made to substitute him for
Martin Torsson. The coach of Grilled was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 46 minutes,
田 (Tian) 勇航 (Yonghang) came on for
Domenik Bögengang. As
Erik Back was substituted 46 minutes into the game, he could take comfort in the fact that his team was in the lead.
Quah Han Kok was the replacement. The game had been on for 51 minutes when
Martin Torsson broke through on the right, upping the score for Grilled to 0 - 6, much to the home crowd's dismay. Elephants's
Tajudin bin Shahrum was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 64 minutes. With 85 minutes played, a phenomenal play on the left side freed
Kyou-Chull Kim, of Grilled, to dash through and score another goal for the visitors. The score was then 0 - 7. It was a bad day for the usually speedy
Quah Han Kok. The mud seemed to slow him down. After 89 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for
Gleb Dorogan who increased Grilled's lead to 0 - 8. Grilled claimed to be the more dominant force in the game, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 83 percent.
Most important Elephants player was
Lim Da Soon. On the other hand,
Yeo Puay Choon's play was disheartening. Grilled's top performer was clearly
Valdir Dias Paes.
Roberto Mausisa turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 0 - 8.
