Grilled were relying on their ability to counter-attack. Buggies took the lead 23 minutes into the game by 1 to 0, as Itzhak Zeytuni elegantly received a long range pass through the middle, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar. Grilled tied it all up, 38 minutes in, after a spectacular goal by Erik Back, who miraculously broke through the home side's central defence, making it 1 - 1. 1 - 1 was the halftime score. The forty-five minutes were dominated by Buggies, with an impressive 70 percent possession of the ball.

Many in the crowd felt the referee was being too lenient when he only showed Grilled's Quah Han Kok a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 61 minutes into the game. Unfortunately for Buggies, Alexandru Petre was injured when the game became more physical, and he had to leave the field. Abdillah bin Sheikh Abu Bakar replaced him. Usually a powerful player on the field, Eulálio Tiago looked kind of pale and tired under the hot sun. 70 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Grilled substitution. Martin Torsson came on for Domenik Bögengang. After 70 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving Quah Han Kok off the field. Edvaldo Mourão took his place. The terraces were silenced after 71 minutes when Grilled's Erik Back put the guests ahead 1 - 2, following an attack on the right. The fierce heat made it important to save breath, and after a few swift runs Erik Back found it hard to get back into position. With 85 minutes having been played, Buggies's Serban Pãdure made a rush down the left, leaving him free to put the 2 - 2 equaliser away. Buggies held the ball, with a clear 71 percent of possession.

Buggies's best player was Serban Pãdure. On the other hand, Abdillah bin Sheikh Abu Bakar's play was disheartening. Most important Grilled player was Ronny Behr. However, Björn Olsson made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 2 - 2.
