Grilled 1 - 2 Granite c

ercast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 3793 at The Cooking Pot today. Kendra Fontaine was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Henryk Świerczek and Sjoerd Wildeman. Grilled started off with a 3-4-3 lineup. They fielded: Silvera - Woon Jin, Chuan Heng, bin Yaacob - 达荣 (Darong) , Mirchev, Mourão, Josefsson - bin Mohamad, 勇航 (Yonghang) , 力海 (Lihai) .

A 5-3-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Granite c. The following players took the field: Boratyński - Blue, Baptie, Gatheral, Coull, Turpie - Abuksis, Malcolm, Plößneck - Monk, Elphee.

Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for Grilled on this day. Granite c clearly preferred using their ability to attack in the middle. Central attacks were the recipe of the day for team Granite c, and they were successfully passing the ball from the wing into the middle to get them on. Down the middle came Paul Elphee, making a fantastic play that nearly had Granite c take the lead after 15 minutes, but Alvaro Silvera preserved the tie. After 19 minutes, Chan Woon Jin made a complete fool of himself when he dropped the ball to Paul Elphee who shuffled it into the goal for Granite c. 0-1. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 1. Granite c claimed to be the more dominant force in the game, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 57 percent.

Grilled needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 46 minutes 鄭 (Zheng) 力海 (Lihai) made way for Ângelo Cunha Simões. After 55 minutes, Grilled switched Safri bin Mohamad with Martin Torsson, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch. Avni Abuksis could have put his team up another goal 59 minutes into the game, after a rush down the left, but his closing shot hit the post. Players in team Granite c heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead. Andy Gatheral was, after 67 minutes, almost able to extend the visitors' lead with a well placed diving header after the ball had looped into the centre, but home side's keeper Alvaro Silvera made the save. After 75 minutes, Ângelo Cunha Simões made a dash down the middle past the away team's defenders to score the goal that made it 1 - 1. Some quick footwork on the left side of the field 77 minutes into the match left Granite c's Kieran Blue completely free to score. 1 - 2 for the visitors. Granite c enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 59 percent of possession.

Martin Torsson performed admirably for Grilled. Chan Woon Jin turned in a dismal performance, however. Granite c's top performer was clearly Avni Abuksis. Andy Gatheral was a disappointment, however. The match ends 1 - 2.
