Viola 6 - 1 Grilled
e to an all-day shower, 4340 paying spectators got to see a match on a pitch-turned-bog at Olympia Stadium.
Nasser Khalil Basri was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Lorenzo Ladrón and
Daniel Moşoiu. Viola decided to use a 2-5-3 set up. They fielded: Cannavaro - Timm, Stridborn - Mutti, Block, Favasuli, Geihofer, Molina - Nirschl, Frizzi, Pacík.
Grilled started off with a 3-4-3 lineup. Starters: Silvera - Woon Jin, Chuan Heng, bin Yaacob - bin Mustapa, Mourão, Han Lai, Mirchev - bin Mohamad, Torsson, 勇航 (Yonghang) .
For their match strategy, Grilled had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible. Viola made a bid to take the lead as a ball coming in on the right hand side left
Sergio Favasuli completely alone with keeper
Alvaro Silvera, who made a spectacular block. 3 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Viola substitution.
Ciro Cataldo came on for
Sergio Favasuli.
Badrul Afzan bin Mustapa behaved like an inexperienced youth player after 21 minutes as he gave the ball away to
Volker Geihofer. Lucky for him though, there was no goal. They were singing the praises of
Jaroslav Pacík 24 minutes into the match after his speculative chip from just outside the centre part of the opponent's penalty area found its way over the visitors keeper to make the score 1 - 0 for Viola. Grilled's
Alvaro Silvera had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 31 minutes having been played.
Lim Shun Jin was the replacement.
Lee Han Lai showed great fighting spirit and didn't seem to mind the rain at all. A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased Viola's lead to 2 - 0 as
Giovanbattista Mutti finished it off competently, firing from an acute angle. With 37 minutes played, Viola put themselves up 3 - 0 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to
Volker Geihofer, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home.
Thorben Block increased Viola's lead to 4 - 0, putting a header away on a hooked ball from the right. The structure of the game started to change as Viola decided to pull back and meet their opponents in their own half. The teams went for the halftime break at 4 - 0. This half belonged to Viola, who controlled the ball 66 percent of the time.
The Viola players could smell victory in the air.
Bengt-Arne Stridborn wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for
Mattias Ranbo after 46 minutes. After 46 minutes, Grilled switched
Martin Torsson with
Ângelo Cunha Simões, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch. Viola's
Giuliano Frizzi was delighted to score the 5 - 0 goal after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper and into the net, following some good attacking movement on the right wing after 62 minutes. Grilled were desperate to get a goal back and pushed forward through the middle 74 minutes into the game. After a scramble in the box, the ball dropped to
Mohd Firdaus bin Yaacob, who smashed it home to make the score 5 - 1.
Daniel Nirschl unleashed a swerving effort from the right that the visitors' keeper did well to tip wide. Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Grilled's
Safri bin Mohamad was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 82 minutes.
鄭 (Zheng) 力海 (Lihai) was given a chance to change things around. Viola added another goal to their lead as
Daniel Nirschl struck home the 6 - 1 goal after an attack from the left set him up unmarked in front of the keeper. As
Marek Timm was substituted 85 minutes into the game, he could take comfort in the fact that his team was in the lead.
Patrick Toyfl was the replacement. Viola was now without a captain, so it was left to
Patrick Toyfl to take the captain's armband. Viola enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 62 percent of possession.
Giuliano Frizzi performed admirably for Viola.
Giovanbattista Mutti turned in a dismal performance, however. The most dominating Grilled player was without a doubt
Edvaldo Mourão. On the other hand,
Lim Shun Jin's play was disheartening. The match ends 6 - 1.
