Chemistry 4 - 3 Grilled
397 fans braved the pouring rain at The Acidic City.
Luca Boari was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Viggo Lykke Frandsen and
Klaus Stoermer. Chemistry decided to use a 3-4-3 set up. The following players took the field: Lantos - Mamedov, Katrinčák, Alink - Veres, Kong Wai, Atanasie, Giorgini - Géza, Pena, Gehberger.
Grilled had chosen a strategic 4-5-1 formation. Starters: Dias Paes - 达荣 (Darong) , Behr, Árva, Torsson - Penati, Branbilla, MacKinnon, Han Kok, 川城 (Chuancheng) - bin Ku Zainol.
Chemistry displayed their ability to play creatively. It was an obvious ambition of Grilled to use their ability at attacking on the flanks. Some beautiful plays on the left side of the field resulted in a goal after 10 minutes by
Meinhart Gehberger for Chemistry, putting them ahead 1 - 0. A lovely rush by Chemistry's
Damiano Giorgini past
封 (Feng) 达荣 (Darong) should have resulted in a goal, but the finish was just wide. A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Chemistry's
Fung Kong Wai putting the lead up to 2 - 0. Chemistry's
Tiberiu Atanasie was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 14 minutes. Grilled's
范 (Fan) 川城 (Chuancheng) was dominating his wing and kept sending fine balls into the opposition's box -
Subri bin Ku Zainol managed to volley one of them into the net to make it 2 - 1 after 20 minutes.
Kálmán Géza should probably have put his team up another goal after 26 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by
Valdir Dias Paes kept the visitors in the game.
John MacKinnon tied the game at 2 - 2 after 28 minutes, when he converted an incredible pass from the right. 34 minutes into the game, Grilled seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a
poor level of organization. The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to
Meinhart Gehberger, but the Chemistry player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 3 - 2! Chemistry managed to extend their lead to 4 - 2 when
Kálmán Géza cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. It was a bad day for the usually speedy
Damiano Giorgini. The mud seemed to slow him down. It was 4 - 2 at the break. The forty-five minutes were dominated by Chemistry, with an impressive 70 percent possession of the ball.
Grilled's coach had an extra briefing during the break, and after that his players had
passable organisation.
Subri bin Ku Zainol had a lethal looking free kick that grazed the post after 48 minutes.
封 (Feng) 达荣 (Darong) was uncomfortable with the soggy pitch as he couldn't move the ball around with his usual grace. Grilled breathed new life into the game with an opportunity to reduce the score after 52 minutes, but the home side's defenders cleared the ball on the line, after a long shot coming in from the left rebounded off the crossbar. After 53 minutes, Chemistry's
Panak Mamedov fell awkwardly, but was determined to stay in the match. After an industrious effort down the middle,
Fung Kong Wai could have closed the game off after 54 minutes, but his finishing shot hit the post. 63 minutes into the match, Grilled replied and reduced the lead to 4 - 3.
John MacKinnon scored on a marvellous cross pass coming in from the left. 70 minutes into the game, Grilled seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to
inadequate.
Fung Kong Wai could have put Chemistry up one more, but he fired into the side netting after breaking free on the left after 72 minutes. Chemistry enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 68 percent of possession.
Chemistry's top performer was clearly
Kálmán Géza. On the other hand,
Erwin Alink's play was disheartening. Most important Grilled player was
Valdir Dias Paes.
Martin Torsson on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 4 - 3.
