Mithril 4 - 3 Grilled

e crowd of 30000 turning up at Doom today were greeted with some nasty showers of rain. Aksel Ørnstrøm was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Rafael Caciara and Matteo Mazzoleni. Fans of both teams had been eagerly awaiting this West derby and were doing their best to outshout their opponents. A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Mithril. Lineup: Sévin - Fuenleal, Santilocchi, Cedillo - Rojas Sánchez, Kaverin, Veled, Loccioni, Corremans - Cohen, Denien.

Grilled decided to use a 3-4-3 set up. Starters: Dias Paes - Torsson, Árva, 达荣 (Darong) - 剑勇 (Jianyong) , Branbilla, Han Kok, 川城 (Chuancheng) - Salieri, Mirchev, 力海 (Lihai) .

Mithril mostly ignored the flanks in favour of their ability to attack in the middle. Matthias Branbilla slipped and slithered in the wet grass. His usual rapid runs were nowhere to be seen today. Mauro Rojas Sánchez made one of his many fine passes from the wing into the middle 28 minutes into the match. Benedik Denien bravely attempted to execute a diving header and the ball was met firmly with his forehead for Mithril. 1 - 0. 36 minutes into the game, Grilled seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to weak. The home team will be cursing Michele Salieri for weeks; he finished off a great pass from the left, knocking it past the keeper without a problem, tying the score at 1 - 1 after 39 minutes. The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to Boris Kaverin, but the Mithril player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 2 - 1! It was 2 - 1 at the break. This half belonged to Mithril, who controlled the ball 58 percent of the time.

Grilled's coach took some time during the break to go over his strategy, which raised Grilled's organization to passable. The visitors didn't give in and, after 49 minutes, 胡 (Hu) 剑勇 (Jianyong) got through the home side's central line of defence, rolling in the equaliser to make it 2 - 2. After the game, the most discussed event will probably be the penalty given after 55 minutes that gave the visitors the 2 - 3 lead. Despite the controversy, 鄭 (Zheng) 力海 (Lihai) struck home the penalty, as cool as anything. Ciro Penati was called on to replace Grilled's Ivaylo Mirchev after 59 minutes following a nasty collision. Julien Sévin kept the home side in the game with a magnificent save when 鄭 (Zheng) 力海 (Lihai) delivered an almost perfect free kick to the far post. Mithril's Binyamin Cohen put his head to a well placed ball, lifted in from the left, and scored the 3 - 3 goal with 80 minutes showing on the scoreboard clock. 82 minutes in, Grilled's Quah Han Kok received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. José Fuenleal was the unlucky victim and couldn't continue the game, so Mithril's Gianluca Padrini had to come off the bench. Mithril held the ball, with a clear 57 percent of possession.

As neither team had managed to win, extra time was called. Mithril took the lead 97 minutes into the game by 4 to 3, as Boris Kaverin elegantly received a long range pass through the middle, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar. Game over, Mithril wins!

Most important Mithril player was Binyamin Cohen. On the other hand, Gianluca Padrini's play was disheartening. Valdir Dias Paes performed admirably for Grilled. However, Michele Salieri made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 4 - 3.
