Cannoneers 3 - 2 Grilled

e crowd of 3321 turning up at Q-Stall Cannoneers Arena today were greeted with some nasty showers of rain. Rubén Benítez was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Sebi Obrecht and Owen Hodgson. Cannoneers started off with a 5-4-1 lineup. The following players had been chosen: Pöschl - Kurz, Hager, Eder, Jovanovic, bin Ismail - Wallmann, Goettel, Peter, Knutsson - Hassoun.

Grilled had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. The following players had been chosen: Huel-sheng - Seng-Huat, Pakpao, bin Che Lah - Fernández Riviera, Stanton, Siu-Yue, Blissenbach, Kolesov - Hobson, Chiew-Yen.

Cannoneers seemed to prefer attacking in the middle. Grilled used their skill at pressing to cut off the attack angles of their opponents all over the field. After a fine move down the middle Floyd Hassoun nearly gave the home side a goal after 9 minutes. The finishing shot went just wide, though. A header from Kamarulzaman bin Ismail connected with a corner kick after 10 minutes, and the ball ended up with Gerhard Jovanovic of Cannoneers who shot home the 1-0 goal. Grilled got a chance to level the score as Tim Blissenbach suddenly found himself free with only the 'keeper to beat, but the finishing shot hit the bar. Gerhard Goettel of Cannoneers received a yellow card after 19 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. The referee showed Cannoneers's Per Knutsson the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. 26 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as Floyd Hassoun dashed through, knocking home 2 - 0 for Cannoneers. 28 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as Martin Kurz dashed through, knocking home 3 - 0 for Cannoneers. The teams went for the halftime break at 3 - 0. Grilled held the ball, with a clear 55 percent of possession.

At this time in the match, Grilled were using their skill at pressing to successfully put pressure on their opponents. A well placed corner kick from Antonio Fernández Riviera was followed by Tim Hobson" alt="Tim Hobson">Tim Hobson's hard but accurate header. The nice combination marked a goal for Grilled, the score now 3-1. Grilled reduced to 3 - 2 on a penalty laid down perfectly at the left post by Antonio Fernández Riviera. Martin Kurz of Cannoneers received a yellow card after 65 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. Coming through the middle Au-Yong Siu-Yue almost scored the equaliser for Grilled after 70 minutes, but Christian Pöschl made an excellent save, tipping the awkwardly curled shot past the post. Grilled's Weng Seng-Huat got himself booked for a foul. Cannoneers claimed to be the more dominant force in the game, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 51 percent.

Cannoneers's best player was Mario Eder. Andreas Peter on the other hand, had a terrible day. Most important Grilled player was Asher Stanton. Antonio Fernández Riviera was a disappointment, however. The match ends 3 - 2.
