While making football a full-time career may be daunting to some, it was an easy decision for 17 year-old defender Abdul Talib bin Mat Arif to take, as he declared himself ready for professional action the minute he turned seventeen and became eligible.
Grilled's coaches had advised him to stay with the Chicken Wings to further his development, but were unable to dissaude the confident youngster. "Honestly, while he could boss forwards around at this level, it will probably be a rude awakening for him when he meets up with the giants of the game, even in lower divisions." an unnamed youth coach commented.
Though Grilled were understandably unable to promise him a squad place, they found Abdul Talib a free transfer to another "new" local club boasting a proud pedigree. Shadow Chasers FC were once a common sight in the top two divisions, and Abdul Talib becomes only the second signing of the reformed club, after American player Delbert Montgomery.
