Khairil Goes To Nahala
Eighteen year-old Khairil bin Ramli, given the choice of staying as a reserve fullback or venturing out, chose the latter option and was sold to Israeli Division Six club Nahala city for S$78 000 tonight. Five other young defenders arrived at Nahala on the same day, together with the 32 year-old Koni Hauenstein.
Khairil had no lack of suitors, prime among them Italian Division Nine side ZORATEAM, who fought Nahala to the last dollar. Another Israeli Division club macabi_ma'le adumim, FK Jerv lilleputt (Norge Division Six), La Rabbia Esaurita (Italian Division Six), corinthians m.k. (Brazillian Division Seven), zooldaak (Hungarian Division Six) and aguanteelmanya f.c. (Uruguay Division Six) were the other hopefuls.
"Khairil was something quite special," Alcántara commented. "he was on a par with Seng-Huat and Nor Suhaimi, but as you know they don't get many opportunities to play these days. We told him that if he wanted to improve, he would have to go, and the move to Nahala city is probably about the best we could have done for him."
