Yap, Dragos Leave
Another foreign import went back home, as Romanian midfielder
Dragos Olaru signed on with a Division Six club in his homeland for S$510 000. The 23 year-old Olaru, who recently graduated with a part-time degree, had just opened a goal account with Grilled.
Olaru had a choice between ROOLL VIDELE and FC Rapid Sibiu, and with both teams at the same level, he admitted he was pressed to make a decision. In the end, it was the just-promoted ROOLL VIDELE's confident spending that drew him in.
Versatile youth defender Yap Rong Jie meanwhile made a S$242 000 move to Israel, where he will train with Division Six team, The Supermodels. "The situation here doesn't scare me," Yap affirmed. "Where there's good football, I will go."
Yap has had many admirers, among which are England's Digby's Desperadoes (Division Five), Indonesia's Persatuan Dukun Santet Club (Division Five), Australia's Goolwa (Division Six), Israel's Beitar "Avi" Jerusalem (Division Five) and GuluBulu (Division Six), Germany's Bus e.V. (Division Eight), Italy's Fc Gatti Investiti (Division Seven), Argentina's Patetik team (Division Eight), Belgium's V.D.2002 (Division Six) and Football Club Red (Division Nine), Romania's TMA Star (Division Seven) and last but not least, local clubs WINKLE F.C (Division Four), Niwde Futbol (Division Four) and Yellow Buggies (Division Five).
It came down to a straight fight between The Supermodels and the Belgian sides, and the Israel club's greater resources eventually won out. There was some concern about the current situation in the Middle East, but once Yap himself gave the go-ahead there was little to do but print out the agreement.
