Sunshine 0 - 8 Grilled

e 23500 fans in attendance at Sunshine United Arena were roasting in the hot sun. Stephan Deisl was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Arnaud Calvez and Arturo Esteban. Sunshine tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination. They fielded: Wee Chang - Han tak, bin Aziz, Wen hsien, bin Salleh - bin Naib, Boon Long, Sung Je, Kian Hin - Guang Min, Yeow Seng.

Grilled had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. Lineup: Dias Paes - 辉洪 (Huihong) , Chuan Heng, bin Othman - 川城 (Chuancheng) , MacKinnon, Han Kok, Branbilla, 剑勇 (Jianyong) - Hjortlind, bin Ku Zainol.

After 8 minutes, Grilled put themselves up by 0 - 1, as 胡 (Hu) 剑勇 (Jianyong) finished off a strike from the left with a real cannon placed at the far post. Grilled's Matthias Branbilla received a play slashing through the home side's central defense after 10 minutes, and chipped it past the keeper to score the 0 - 2 goal. The home crowd was not pleased with that one. The Grilled free kick 18 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But there was an idea to it - the misdirected ball was turned into a cross towards 胡 (Hu) 剑勇 (Jianyong) , who was waiting for it in the box. That's 0 - 3! Don't forget to thank the assistant coach for that gem of a routine! The sun seemed to put Ho Sung Je in a great mood, and he showed off his technical skills all match long. After 23 minutes, Grilled's Subri bin Ku Zainol burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 4. At this point in the game, defending their lead became the main priority for Grilled. 24 minutes in, Grilled's Ulf Hjortlind received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. Sunshine were forced to a substitution as Li Wen hsien couldn't continue playing due to the rough treatment, forcing Ahamat bin Hasyim to come in from the sidelines. Halftime score was 0 - 4. The forty-five minutes were dominated by Grilled, with an impressive 80 percent possession of the ball.

Quah Han Kok wasn't much help defensively. His energy-consuming forward runs proved quite costly in the oppressive heat. The game had been on for 77 minutes when Subri bin Ku Zainol broke through on the right, upping the score for Grilled to 0 - 5, much to the home crowd's dismay. After 83 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for John MacKinnon who increased Grilled's lead to 0 - 6. A thrilling play through the middle 87 minutes into the match gave Grilled's Ulf Hjortlind a chance to increase the lead, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 7. The home crowd was not impressed when Matthias Branbilla came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 87 minutes. Grilled were now up 0 - 8. Many in the crowd felt the referee was being too lenient when he only showed Sunshine's Mohd Amran bin Aziz a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 88 minutes into the game. 88 minutes into the match, Subri bin Ku Zainol came through the middle and almost added to his team's lead, but the shot went wide. Grilled's Lim Chuan Heng got himself booked for a foul. Grilled held the ball, with a clear 82 percent of possession.

Most important Sunshine player was Lee Yeow Seng. Li Han tak on the other hand, had a terrible day. Grilled's top performer was clearly Valdir Dias Paes. However, Ulf Hjortlind made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 0 - 8.
