Al-Daud 0 - 4 Grilled
brilliantly sunny day had enticed a crowd of 24135 to Al-Daud Arena.
Santi Bestué was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Kamal Adami and
Mladen Peychev. People from all over
West had joined up for the derby. Al-Daud tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. The following players took the field: Frenquelli - Cantarini, Natalicchio, Stanković - Povh, Megnet, Granland, Overweg, Gonzalez - Schmaedel, Abregu.
Grilled had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. Starters: Dias Paes - bin Mustapa, Lik-Tsun, Talib - Penati, Branbilla, MacKinnon, Han Kok, è¾¾è£ (Darong) - Rotteveel, bin Ku Zainol.
A mistake by the home side's central defence after 31 minutes allowed
Maikel Rotteveel to score the 0 - 1 goal for Grilled. On any other day,
Heinz-Herbert Schmaedel's free kick would have found the back of the net to tie the game for Al-Daud, but not today - the visitors' keeper displayed extraordinary reflexes as he blocked the shot harmlessly to the side.
Maikel Rotteveel increased Grilled's lead to 0 - 2 with a superb free kick strike that flew in just under the far top corner. 0 - 2 was the halftime score. Possession of the ball saw an equal split between the teams during the forty-five minutes.
Grilled's
Ciro Penati was dominating his wing and kept sending fine balls into the opposition's box -
Maikel Rotteveel managed to volley one of them into the net to make it 0 - 3 after 50 minutes. At that,
Maikel Rotteveel was noted down for a hat trick.
Žarko Stanković enjoyed the sunshine and demonstrated his stunning technique over and over again. The away team's
Maikel Rotteveel took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 54 minutes which increased Grilled's lead to 0 - 4. After this, Grilled lowered the tempo in order to concentrate on their defensive efforts. After 64 minutes,
Edgar Abregu had a good opportunity to reduce the scoreline for Al-Daud with a chance created through the middle, but wasn't cool enough. The ball went miles over the bar. Grilled claimed to be the more dominant force in the game, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 52 percent.
The most dominating Al-Daud player was without a doubt
Stefan Granland. On the other hand,
Remo Natalicchio's play was disheartening. Grilled's best player was
Valdir Dias Paes.
Badrul Afzan bin Mustapa turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 0 - 4.
