Grilled 0 - 3 Void
260 fans braved the pouring rain at The Cooking Pot.
Conny Fredblad was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Jonathan Strandborn and
Rowin Offermans. Everyone was excited about the upcoming
West derby and the crowd was divided evenly. A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Grilled. The following players had been chosen: Dias Paes - Ãrva, Lik-Tsun, Talib - Penati, MacKinnon, Branbilla, Seng-Huat, Mirchev - Rotteveel, bin Yaacob.
Void tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. The following players took the field: Remetter - Strandling, MlÄák, Ciupitu - Nayak, Bertin, Woitschig, Carvalho, Rebko - Ford, Jaros.
Jano MlÄák did not have a good day today, often losing his footing on the muddy pitch.
Matt Ford had a hard time on the water infested pitch - his trademark technique was nowhere in sight this day. Down the middle came
Matt Ford, making a fantastic play that nearly had Void take the lead after 10 minutes, but
Valdir Dias Paes preserved the tie. The referee showed Void's
Benny Strandling the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. With 27 minutes played, the visitors broke through on the right after some poor defending.
Eustachy Jaros put the ball away for 0 - 1. The home crowd was not impressed when
Iuliu Ciupitu came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 32 minutes. Void were now up 0 - 2. Grilled's
Ivaylo Mirchev had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 34 minutes having been played.
Hang Bao-Tam was the replacement. 0 - 2 was the halftime score. Void claimed to be the more dominant force in the game, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 65 percent.
After 56 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defence allowed
Gérard Bertin to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors. 0 - 3. The structure of the game started to change as Void decided to pull back and meet their opponents in their own half. Many in the crowd felt the referee was being too lenient when he only showed Grilled's
Maikel Rotteveel a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 78 minutes into the game.
Benny Strandling was the unlucky victim and couldn't continue the game, so Void's
Rossano Faccioli had to come off the bench. Void enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 66 percent of possession.
Matthias Branbilla performed admirably for Grilled. However,
Weng Seng-Huat made a disastrous appearance. The most dominating Void player was without a doubt
Alphonse Remetter.
Eustachy Jaros on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 0 - 3.
