Blooming 1 - 2 Grilled

ather conditions were fairly good for football, and La Catedral Bluminista saw a crowd turnout of 1607. Geerard Verdin was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Helge Hoenninger and Philip Paludan. Blooming had chosen a strategic 4-5-1 formation. They fielded: Feliu - Acosta, Nilsson, Hartikainen, Tse Lee - Kottise, Luz, Cabral, Antzas, Ghirin - Jensen.

Grilled tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. The following players had been chosen: Bao-Tam - Alcántara, Tuan-Mu, Seng-Huat - Kolesov, Ju-Hau, Paullin, Rottman, Fernández Riviera - Hjortlind, Stern.

It was an obvious ambition of Grilled to use their ability at attacking on the flanks. John Ghirin gave Blooming the lead with 1 - 0, as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then placed the ball unreachably at the keeper's right post. Grilled's Zhan Ju-Hau got himself booked for a foul. With 11 minutes played, Blooming's Terje Jensen tried to nail the coffin shut, but his shot from the left glanced off the top of the bar to fall behind the net. John Ghirin really should have scored when he was chosen by fate to confront a wide open goal following a great play by Anders Nilsson after a corner. After 38 minutes Joe Stern made a speedy advance and dropped the ball to Ulf Hjortlind who shuffled it past the keeper. The score was now 1 - 1. Blooming made a bid to take the lead as a ball coming in on the right hand side left Carlos Antônio Luz completely alone with keeper Hang Bao-Tam, who made a spectacular block. 42 minutes into the game, Blooming had difficulty finding their positions and their organization dropped to inadequate. Halftime score was 1 - 1. Grilled claimed to be the more dominant force in the game, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 60 percent.

Blooming's coach had an extra briefing during the break, and after that his players had solid organization. Joe Stern made a nice rush in the 50 minute, but was eventually stopped by Anders Nilsson. 51 minutes into the game, Ulf Hjortlind was a hair's breadth away from giving Grilled the lead with a shot from over on the left. A prompt block by Pedro Feliu saved the home team that time. Grilled took the lead after 61 minutes with 1 - 2. Joe Stern placed the ball out of reach for the home side's keeper after a fine move, coming in from the left. After the ball was lifted in from the left, Zhan Ju-Hau was on his own in the home side's penalty area and should have scored after 77 minutes, but missed, probably due to lack of concentration. After 79 minutes Grilled's Ulf Hjortlind contracted a slight foot injury, but could finish the game. With 82 minutes played, Grilled's Jon Andrea Rottman fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee booked Jon Andrea Rottman for diving. 85 minutes in, Blooming appeared unsure on how to play and their organization was only solid. Carlos Antônio Luz was clearly tired at the end of the game and Jon Andrea Rottman nicked the ball from him, but was unable to put it past the keeper. Grilled came close to extending their lead as Jon Andrea Rottman delivered a low effort on goal from the right after 89 minutes, but the angle was too narrow and the shot went harmlessly into the side netting. Grilled claimed to be the more dominant force in the game, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 57 percent.

Most important Blooming player was Anders Nilsson. Chong Tse Lee on the other hand, had a terrible day. Most important Grilled player was Zhan Ju-Hau. Joe Stern was a disappointment, however. The match ends 1 - 2.
