Corsairs 0 - 6 Grilled

e 7000 fans in attendance at West Field were roasting in the hot sun. Noel Hopfenhof was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Tero Kielo and Tonni Steffansen. People from all over West had joined up for the derby. A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Corsairs. Lineup: Yee-Ming - Sai-Kwong, Hung-Fai, Myung-Suck, bin Hussain - Ai-Ping, Kumar, Naushad, Ching-Hing - Choong-Tat, Chi-Wai.

Grilled decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. Starters: Dias Paes - Penati, Talib, Bona - Deme, Fjällbratt, Spirig, Mirchev, Chowdhury - Rotteveel, bin Yaacob.

With 7 minutes played, the visitors broke through on the right after some poor defending. Mohd Firdaus bin Yaacob put the ball away for 0 - 1. The sun seemed to put Qu Ai-Ping in a great mood, and he showed off his technical skills all match long. Had it not been for one of the home defenders, Maikel Rotteveel would have put Grilled up another goal 15 minutes into the match with his audacious lob from the right wing. Grilled's Tapesh Chowdhury was dominating his wing and kept sending fine balls into the opposition's box - Mohd Firdaus bin Yaacob managed to volley one of them into the net to make it 0 - 2 after 21 minutes. Mohd Firdaus bin Yaacob increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley shot away on a pass from the right. 0 - 3. At that, Mohd Firdaus bin Yaacob was noted down for a hat trick. Grilled's Sándor Deme was shown a yellow card after 32 minutes for slicing down an opponent. The away team's Maikel Rotteveel took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 40 minutes which increased Grilled's lead to 0 - 4. After this, Grilled lowered the tempo in order to concentrate on their defensive efforts. Halftime score was 0 - 4. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 56 percent of possession.

Grilled's Maikel Rotteveel finished emphatically to make the score 0-5 after 56 minutes, after the enigmatic Mohd Firdaus bin Yaacob pulled a delightful long pass from his box of tricks to bypass the defence. Peter Fjällbratt of Grilled was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. After 76 minutes Corsairs's Lin Sai-Kwong had to be carried off on a stretcher in agony. Mohd Hafizi bin Jaafar came in to replace him. 77 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 0 - 6 as Mohd Firdaus bin Yaacob finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick. The forty-five minutes were dominated by Grilled, with an impressive 58 percent possession of the ball.

Qu Ai-Ping performed admirably for Corsairs. Su-Tu Myung-Suck was a disappointment, however. Valdir Dias Paes performed admirably for Grilled. Ciro Penati on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 0 - 6.
