Warriors 1 - 3 Grilled

ercast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 78343 at Azteca Alcazar today. Antti Österholm was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Wouter Hendriks and Zsolt Kökény. Warriors had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. The following players had been chosen: bin Ghazali - Könyves, Romanov, Nievas - Wei-Sin, Martin, Wästertorp, Kim-Minh, Conde - Oprea, Revelant.

Grilled started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. They fielded: Bao-Tam - Alcántara, Tuan-Mu, Dewilde - Stanton, Ju-Hau, Noor Yadah, Kek-Tjiang, Siu-Yue - Stern, Martinsson.

Warriors seemed to prefer attacking in the middle. Warriors took the lead 19 minutes into the game by 1 to 0, as Liviu Oprea elegantly received a long range pass through the middle, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar. Shen Kek-Tjiang finished off a quick charge from the left of the field by chipping the ball just past the home side's keeper, making the score 1 - 1 27 minutes into the match. Grilled had a magnificent opportunity after 31 minutes as Joe Stern hit the ball hard from the edge of the penalty box. However, the shot went wide. After a fine move down the middle Liviu Oprea nearly gave the home side a goal after 36 minutes. The finishing shot went just wide, though. With 37 minutes played, the visitors broke through on the right after some poor defending. Ola Martinsson put the ball away for 1 - 2. 1 - 2 was the halftime score. Warriors held the ball, with a clear 53 percent of possession.

The referee showed Grilled's Asher Stanton the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Warriors's Artem Romanov went down after a savage challenge, but could continue playing after some medical attention. With the scoreboard clock showing 72 minutes, the inexperienced Warriors team fell into disarray. Grilled came close to extending their lead as Johan Dewilde delivered a low effort on goal from the right after 77 minutes, but the angle was too narrow and the shot went harmlessly into the side netting. Ola Martinsson increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley shot away on a pass from the right. 1 - 3. By now, Grilled were drawing the troops back in order to defend their lead. Grilled held the ball, with a clear 59 percent of possession.

Most important Warriors player was Thomas Wästertorp. However, Khairul Nazri bin Ghazali made a disastrous appearance. The most dominating Grilled player was without a doubt Shen Kek-Tjiang. Joe Stern was a disappointment, however. The match ends 1 - 3.
