Herron 2 - 2 Grilled
e weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 88880 had shown up at Sky Ocean for the match.
Alfred Bacon was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Emery Booth and
Poldy Zugriegl. Herron decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. They fielded: Mohd Nadzir - Molstål, Ulfsson, Haupai - Hyoung-zoo, Meng Siong, Eriksson, Yong-chul, Ashton - Chit-Fu, Jähnisch.
Grilled tactics involved an interesting 4-5-1 combination. The following players had been chosen: Beckman - Zywczyn, Lik-Tsun, Talib, Bona - Han Kok, Jie Siong, MacKinnon, Paullin, Spirig - Rotteveel.
For their match strategy, Grilled had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible. After 10 minutes, following yet another great corner,
Fabian Bona knocked the ball to the limit of
Lee Jie Siong's reach, who just couldn't put it in the net. Grilled took the lead 14 minutes into the game, scoring the 0 - 1 goal after some elegant plays down the middle.
John MacKinnon was the scorer. No matter how hard he tried,
Shu Chit-Fu just couldn't get shot past the visitors' right side defence after 16 minutes. 28 minutes in, the unpredictable
Pian Hyoung-zoo of Herron fired a sudden long range shot that flew only inches wide of the post. A thrilling play through the middle 32 minutes into the match gave Grilled's
Lee Jie Siong a chance to increase the lead, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 2. The home crowd was given a certain amount of consolation when
Nie Yong-chul, after a brilliant midfield combination through the middle, reduced the lead to 1 - 2. The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 2. This half belonged to Herron, who controlled the ball 55 percent of the time.
After a fatal mistake from the away team's right side defence 57 minutes into the match, an alert
Anders Eriksson bagged the ball for Herron, levelling the score to 2 - 2. Herron's
Shu Chit-Fu tried to break through in the middle repeatedly, but couldn't get past the visitors' defenders. The defensive line of Grilled created a counterattack through the middle that gave
Fabian Bona a good look at the goal, but his shot glanced harmlessly off the crossbar. A great pass from the defensive line of Grilled resulted in a counterattack that was smoothly brought under control by
John MacKinnon in the centre of the opposition's penalty area, but his finish went high. Herron enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 57 percent of possession.
The most dominating Herron player was without a doubt
Anders Eriksson. However,
Pian Hyoung-zoo made a disastrous appearance. Grilled's best player was
Lorenz Paullin.
Dani Spirig on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 2 - 2.
