Grilled 3 - 1 Warrior
ercast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 77067 at The Cooking Pot today.
Magnus Danielsson was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Yoann Audibert and
Sándor Gubán. Grilled started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. The following players took the field: Abed-Sulaiman - Zywczyn, Lik-Tsun, Talib - Jie Siong, Han Kok, Kek-Tjiang, Paullin, van Liere - Rotteveel, Simon.
Warrior decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. They fielded: bin Zainal - Tian Chin, Shiu-Loong, Lien - Siong Yew, Ming-Foo, Habets, Knebelsberger, bin Moidony - Kang-yin, Rosado.
The crowd groaned its disapproval when
Sylweriusz Zywczyn missed a free kick that would have given Grilled the lead after 19 minutes. After 30 minutes, the home side was awarded a penalty. The visitors protested wildly but the referee was adamant.
Sylweriusz Zywczyn easily put the 1 - 0 goal away to give the lead to Grilled. Grilled added another goal to their lead as
Lorenz Paullin struck home the 2 - 0 goal after an attack from the left set him up unmarked in front of the keeper.
Gordon Rosado nearly reduced 38 minutes into the game, but a splendid one-handed save by
Ahmed Abed-Sulaiman put a stop to the attempt coming in from the right flank. 2 - 0 was the score after the first half. Grilled claimed to be the more dominant force in the game, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 59 percent.
After an industrious effort down the middle,
Nawaz Talib could have closed the game off after 53 minutes, but his finishing shot hit the post. After 57 minutes of play, the free-spirited
Hidde van Liere decided to aim straight for the goal as he struck from the corner of the pitch. The ball deflected off a defender and went out of bounds. 66 minutes into the match,
Sylweriusz Zywczyn could have extended the lead, but his very hard free kick went just over the bar. After 67 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by
Dimitri Simon might have resulted in another goal for Grilled. However,
Afandi bin Zainal made a spectacular save. Good work by Warrior's defensive line produced a couple of good counterattack chances, one of which cut elegantly down the middle of the pitch and found
Gordon Rosado alone in front of the goal, but his shot whistled just wide.
Wu Kang-yin of Warrior was able to make an impressive rush past the sluggish
Nawaz Talib, which resulted in the 2 - 1 goal. Cheers filled the stadium as
Dimitri Simon broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the 3 - 1 goal for Grilled. The referee showed Grilled's
Dimitri Simon the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Grilled held the ball, with a clear 57 percent of possession.
Grilled's best player was
Han Lik-Tsun. However,
Lee Jie Siong made a disastrous appearance. Warrior's top performer was clearly
Afandi bin Zainal.
Inge Lien on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 3 - 1.
