The referee was not popular with the home supporters after he awarded Grilled a controversial penalty after 40 minutes. Due to some great work on the right wing Geylang's Tsai Jie-Quan was able to even the score after 72 minutes to make the score 4 - 4. By then Tsai Jie-Quan was a three time scorer - a hat trick! The game was close to savage at times, and Geylang's Aristide Ditã received a second yellow card after 73 minutes, his ticket out of the game. Geylang's Lim Fui-Gna left the field after 76 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was Cao Pei-Hao. Grilled held the ball, with a clear 74 percent of possession.
