Chemistry 2 - 1 Grilled

ear skies welcomed the 100341 spectators who had made their way to The Acidic City. Manfred Wimmer was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Erik Thorstensson and Hannes Muschwitz. Chemistry had chosen a strategic 3-4-3 formation. The following players took the field: Lantos - Kai-Xi, Chang Chin, Dong Tse - Haafkens, Kum-Leong, Niklasson, Bryant - Železnik, El Boubakri, Ladzim.

Grilled decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. The following players had been chosen: Abed-Sulaiman - Zywczyn, Fredgård, Talib - van Liere, Han Kok, Kek-Tjiang, Paullin, Spirig - Martinsson, Simon.

Chemistry clearly preferred using their ability to attack in the middle. Hidde van Liere has acquired a talent for predicting the movements of the opposing defence over the years and this almost resulted in a goal 14 minutes into the match. Grilled had several good opportunities to take the lead, especially 23 minutes in when Dimitri Simon came up alone against Brúnó Lantos who managed a block. 35 minutes in, Chemistry's Remo Haafkens received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. Anders Fredgård was first to reach a ball launched long through the center from Grilled's defence 39 minutes into the game. He managed to keep his cool and beat the goalkeeper to make the score 0 - 1. Remo Haafkens pulled a real crowd pleaser as he, after 41 minutes, wove through the guests' entire central defence and put the 1 - 1 equaliser away. Grilled's Anders Fredgård had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 44 minutes having been played. Fabian Bona was the replacement. Halftime score was 1 - 1. Chemistry claimed to be the more dominant force in the game, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 56 percent.

Sylweriusz Zywczyn delivered a good free kick from an excellent position 54 minutes into the game, but luck wasn't on Grilled's side this time and the ball went wide. Remo Haafkens really should have scored when he was chosen by fate to confront a wide open goal following a great play by Michael Bryant after a corner. Chemistry were awarded a penalty after 59 minutes of play, but Martin Železnik's shot skimmed just wide. Martin Železnik could have put Chemistry into the lead after 65 minutes, but the free kick went just wide. Eric Niklasson gave Chemistry the lead with 2 - 1, as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then placed the ball unreachably at the keeper's right post. Chemistry held the ball, with a clear 55 percent of possession.

Michael Bryant performed admirably for Chemistry. However, Martin Železnik made a disastrous appearance. Grilled's top performer was clearly Ahmed Abed-Sulaiman. On the other hand, Dani Spirig's play was disheartening. The match ends 2 - 1.
