Busy Bees academy pals Chow Cheng Li and Ahmad bin Mohd Kamarul thought that they would be headed to local III.12 club Kuala Boys together, but a twist of fate saw Ahmad eventually leave for Bulgaria, where he will ply his trade for IV.51 club Azure.
Belait-based Kuala Boys had undertaken to sign the pair initially, with 18 year-old midfielder Chow Cheng Li over the moon about the transfer. "It's not easy to adapt to a new environment all by my own, so I'm glad to have a friend by me." Chow was reported as saying, a few days ago.
Alas, a personal call from Polish head coach Robert Kasperski of former Vissha Liga titans Azure would sway Ahmad bin Mohd Kamarul, whose parents thought it too good of an opportunity to pass up. "I mean, we would have loved for him to stay with Chow - the boy's like, half a son by now." his father Mohd Kamarul bin Salah Tajudeen sighed. "But Azure are such a big club. I think Ahmad will regret it if he doesn't try."
The 17 year-old will likely be paired with fellow new signing - Fidde Keuppens from Lonnesiel d'Aa, Belgium - in Kasperski's reserves, together with other trainees such as Tangi Mansuy and Ynte Adema. "He's a fine defender with few obvious weaknesses." scout Zulfadly bin Hj Ratano commented. "It's up to him to make the most of the move."
