The teams had chosen different formations for the match. Home team
Grilled Birds went for 2-5-3 while
Controlar has decided to play a 5-5-0 lineup.
Grilled tried to focus their attacks down the middle, taking advantage of their
divine (+4) level with that tactic.
Controlar showed off their
supernatural creative tactics. After 16 minutes,
元気 (Genki) 長野 (Nagano) came in from the right, feinted, then sped past the off-balance defender to make the score 1 - 0, giving
Grilled the lead.
Hwang Teck Fu had a fantastic opportunity to put
Grilled up another goal 26 minutes into the match after a pass through the middle set him free, but he fired just over the crossbar.
Grilled players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead.
Grilled's
Brian 'Was Born' Reddy saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 27 minutes.
Grilled were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up centrally. Things were going to get worse for the visitors.
Lim An Keng squirmed through their central defence after 33 minutes, increasing the lead to 2 - 0.
Grilled's
元気 (Genki) 長野 (Nagano) placed the ball right at his teammate's feet with an inch perfect corner, but
Phillip Nagata couldn't finish with the crowd letting out a collective grunt of shock as it went past the post on the wrong side. After 35 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by
Gandhik Chitre might have resulted in another goal for
Grilled. However,
Pedro Vasco Conceição Correia made a spectacular save. 37 minutes in,
Controlar appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only
poor. It was 2 - 0 at the break. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by
Grilled, with 70 percent of the ball.
During the break,
Controlar's coach went through the team's tactics yet again, getting them up to
passable organisation. Still ahead in the game after 46 minutes,
Grilled made some tactical adjustments.
Chad Thach and
Mohd Marzuki Khairul swapped positions. After 46 minutes, the
Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving
Mohd Marzuki Khairul off the field.
Aw Keng Chuan took his place.
Grilled put themselves up 3 - 0 when
Chia Kwang Tse broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake.
Hwang Teck Fu pulled the strings in the build-up.
Gandhik Chitre unleashed a swerving effort from the right that the visitors' keeper did well to tip wide. After 58 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and
Chia Kwang Tse gave the
Grilled supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 4 - 0.
Hwang Teck Fu would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise.
Paulino Trindade entered the game for
Grilled as the match clock showed 89 minutes. The referee decided to let play continue for an additional 1 minute beyond the regular 90 minutes.
夏 (Ha) 其材 (Qicai) could have increased the lead after 89 minutes, but his shot hit the post after a nice combination in the middle of the park.
Li Loong Siong slowly got up on his feet, clutching his right thigh, but eventually signalled that he was ready to play on. 89 minutes into the game,
Controlar had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to
inadequate. The match ends 4 - 0.
Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 71 percent.
The most dominating
Grilled player was without a doubt
Gandhik Chitre.
Patrik Kojecký performed admirably for
Controlar.
